Penn State Alum Assoc. to add 2 names to council ballot.....

SOMETHING. DOES. NOT. SMELL. RIGHT. WITH. PSAA.

There is seriously something wrong at PSU. I mean WTF is in the air up there in State College? Shady shady shady everywhere. I'm not a conspiracist by nature. But when every single data point smells (BoT, Freeh, NCAA, key government players, PSAA members), there is something seriously toxic going on.

I know little about the alumni council, but two things that struck me from the article:

"...protesting that the PSAA rejected his candidacy for one of the 10 open seats on the 86-member alumni council..."

86 members? We talk about the bot being too large. How can a group with 86 members get anything done or do things properly?

"There were other names who were not included on the ballot who were not addressed in Williams's letter. Alumni-elected trustees Ted Brown, Anthony Lubrano, Bill Oldsey and Alice Pope were not placed on the ballot. Neither was former assistant football coach Jay Paterno, son of the legendary former head coach Joe Paterno."

It sounds like the bot is pulling the strings here.

Anyone who thinks fighting back is a waste of time, consider this.

I'll bet that a lot of alum negative feedback was a factor in restoring Morgan and Smith to the ballot. I know I let Williams know my feelings. Morgan obviously was left off the ballot because of her truth-finding efforts. That was an arbitrary and unjust reason for the PSAA to disqualify her. She has been one of the movement's heroes from the start, and if the voting alums are informed she should win in a landslide. I need to look into Smith's background, but I'm guessing he's in the camp not satisfied with the reaction to the Sandusky crisis. I have some empathy for the conflict of interest reason used to disqualify sitting trustees, but I have some problem with making up rules after they were nominated. Jay was obviously hosed because of his last name and the family suit. I think that stinks, and if there is an option for writing in, he'll get my vote.

My affinity with Penn State is at an all time low. If it were not for this

Board, the Paternos, and BOT members like Mr. Lubrano, I have no doubt I would have severed all ties. Despite great things like THON and women's volleyball, there is so much I cannot stomach and I'm tired of the endless drumbeat of bad news. I think there is a time coming, perhaps soon, when I will just wake up one day, walk away, and never look back.

What saddens me is, I was very very wrong about what

PSU is like, at it's core. It's rotten. Just rotten.

It's not what I always thought it was, that is for sure.

Sadly, I must agree, at least at the leadership level.

Brown and Kay Salvino had a bit of a tussle at the BOT committee meetings last Thursday. Brown asked her directly if she would remain on the Alumni Council once her term as president expired. She answered yes. He then asked if she would be taking the seat on the BOT formed in November for the immediate past AA President. She again answered yes.

Brown asked how she could sit on both and he could not- he asked if it was a different standard. Salvino said it was a conflict to be elected to both BOT and the Alumni Council. Brown, now terribly angry asked how she could sit on both and he could not- he asked if it was a different standard. Salvino said it was a completely different situation....

Another ridiculous joke in the long line of them manufactured

by these 'leaders' of penn state. They certainly love their ivory towers, immune from everything and tone deaf to how everyone except their inner circle feels about them.

Exibit # 785 in the case proving that this Board is - literally - FUBAR

There is no hope aside from an outside agency (the legislature?) coming in and razing the thing and building from scratch.

NONE.

The sooner more and more people come to that (obvious) conclusion, the better.

And, it should go without saying, Salvino is just another boot-licking sycophant.......but there are hoards of them standing around who would be eager to take her place, so - in the grand scheme of things - not worth comment. As Peetzie would say, she's not "super-relevant".

Be sure to vote in the Penn State Alumni Association (PSAA) council election. The BOT majority added the immediate past president of the Alumni Association as a voting member recently when it increased the size of the BOT. So, the alumni council members become the feeder pool for the that voting PSAA BOT seat which is why it is important that you vote. I believe that PSAA seat as a voting member is a conflict of interest given strong ties to and history with the administration, but what is done is done for now.
