Basketball Penn State defeats No. 21 Maryland to earn fifth Quad-1 victory

With Iowa hanging at 33rd and Illinois at 34th, we could end up picking up a 6th one before it's over if one of them could play their way up to 30th.

Should be in now no matter what happens in the B1G Tournament. Easily one of the top 64-68 teams in the country
True but it’s not just the top 68 teams. Small conference champions get in so really it’s about the top 40-ish teams and some other conference winners.

Now they need to play out of the first 4
That’s a tough call for me. I agree with what your premise is but I kind of want them to be in it and be like a few teams have done as a 12 seed from that spot, and go on a run to the Sweet 16.

One more thing…we’ve got to make sure there aren’t too many upsets of lesser teams that win and “steal spots” from the general pool of teams.

True, I haven’t seen any bids, stolen and small conference tournaments yet knock on wood.

There aren't many "small conferences" that can do it this year. Summit possibly (though I question if Oral Roberts can sustain a loss), and same with the CAA/Charleston. Need FAU to win the CUSA tourney. Beyond that, it's about the bigger tournaments (Gonzaga/St Marys win the WCC, Houston/Memphis wins the AAC, Villanova (or some shocking team) doesn't win the Big East, UCLA/Zona/USC wins the Pac12, one of the top 4 wins the Mountain West, no huge surprise in the SEC/ACC/B1G/B12). I'll break it all down in the bubble thread as they come along.

Has anyone really gone on a run playing on Tuesday or Wed in Dayton?

So what is the consensus? Are we up-and-coming or a perennial basketball loser? I cannot follow the narrative.

Michigan & Indy headed to OT. Who do we want to win?

I think most fans would be happy if we could make the tourney every few years….we don’t have to be an up and comer, just a team that has a shot at making it once in a while.

I’m torn a bit. Michigan is a fellow bubble team so them losing would help us directly towards getting in the tournament but if Indiana loses we could get Northwestern in our first game which is probably more favorable matchup for us in the Big Ten tournament to get a quad one win.
Ultimately F, Michigan

19-12 is better than 17-14, but 11-9 is better than 10-10.

PSU 5-6 vs quad 1
UM 3-11 vs quad 1

PSU 4-5 vs quad 2
UM 5-2 vs quad 2
Those are numbers that will help us…and the fact that Michigan will have 15 losses…but need to avoid them picking up a couple more wins.

Getting back to how we got here: Like many on the board, I have been on Seth over the past few games as he has gone from hero to pretty much zero on both the offensive and defensive ends (witness end to end and 1 basket by Young yesterday.) HOWEVER- in re-watching the last seconds it was he who created the collision which sent the rebound Cam's way. Originally I thought it was Jalen from the baseline- but it was indeed Seth. Great hustle and grit to not just ball watch.

If you look closely at his reaction he is as happy as anyone- not sulking about his missed opportunity. Here is hoping that this helps him pick it up Thursday- he has been in double digits both games vs. Illini. We cannot count on another 41 from Jalen- or maybe even half of that the way that teams have been covering him since that explosion. We need a solid Lundy to win more games.

Go State!

Last sequence starts at 4:37
