Football Penn State Set To Name Beaver Stadium Field - West Shore Home Field

As long as it’s not Tampax Field at Beaver Stadium. Or Venus Raxor Field at Beaver Stadium. Or the Ryobi One trimmer field at Beaver Stadium. 😀

Naming rights to Beaver Stadium. This is a ploy to bury the name of Joe Paterno forever.
I understand the economics of the situation, and if it's going to financially solidify the Atheltic Department I can accept it. However, I'm saddened that it appears as if Paterno's name never will grace either the name of the stadium or the field, which is a shame and disgrace because the most important figure in the school is being forgotten intentionally.

Great...so we'll have the "Home" Field advantage.

I know and that will never happen. As years go by the powers that be won't even ever remember being alive when Paterno was alive and he is simply some coach we had a long time ago, nothing more than that except he was part of some scandal. Sad but the harsh reality. But hey we sure as hell now have a bathroom remodeling company attached to the name of the stadium. Nice job BoT.

How many other iconic stadiums have these names attached to them? Michigan Stadium? No Ohio Stadium? No. Notre Dame Stadium? No. USC Coliseum? No. But of course we need to do it because we spent too much money on renovation of the stadium and desperately need money. Why these other storied stadiums and programs don't have to name their stadium after a bathroom and home remodeling type company I don't know. They probably don't think it is necessary or appropriate.

I actually won't be surprised if these other traditional places also begin to do that, just like all the NHL and MLB teams now wear patches on their jerseys of various companies. As soon as these other places see dollar signs, they'll join in the fun. OSU's Athletic Department supposedly is in the red, so they probably could do with a windfall like this.

You could be right. I am not happy about this company/name. Nothing pers6against them but I guess we couldn't get a national sponsor. Never heard of this company although I don't live in PA and have never been in the market for home remodeling. Or at least get more money. $3 million a year is nothing. All that goes toward paying Allar, Singleton and DDS.

I have a hard time envisioning Michigan would stoop to signing over the naming rights of the Big House to some local yocal landscape company out of Detroit for example.

For all of you yapping that they didn't get enough money for the naming rights, "The deal is..... the largest naming rights deal in college football."
You do realize these naming rights are for the field and NOT the stadium, right?

Whatever yada yada it does not change the fact that it is not a lot of money. Are they that desperate for $3 mil a year? Probably the biggest deal ever because no other good programs are doing this.

Well that will be a mouthful for Steve Jones during games. I wonder how many times he will be required to mention the full name during radio broadcasts or on his call-in show. Mark it down, it will be required of him. They aren't paying $50 mil for an occasional mention.
You are correct.

there is still group(s) of people who are and will continue to be upset that the field is not named in honor of Joe Paterno. The University just sold it's soul for $3.3 million a year. With the stated funds raised of $70million plus the new $50 million that leaves $580 million to go. A large percentage of the group I mentioned would/might have contributed, but from what I read on social media that concept is gone.

I hope the powers that be recognized that they have alienated some percent of the potential donor base.

I do think that the concept of the "Home" field at home is well thought out :)

Yep. News outlets will probably be required. See it all the time either way pro sports. AP, ESPN, gheyvd use the paid for names at least once in every article about a game.
