Pens-Flyers

I know the flyers have been just as hot as the Pens since the beginning of January, but the flyers sure look slow. Can they win in the playoffs with the lack of team speed they display??

The Broad Street B!tches looked better tonight than I expected. You know, they and their 'fans' whine about Crosby being a big baby. But I've not seen a team complain, whine, and beg as much as this Flyers team in a LONG time. Wonder why everyone west of the Delaware river calls them 'the Cryers'? It was clear tonight. Bunch of candy ass babies! Suck it, Cryers!

That would be sort of cute, I suppose, somewhere in the miasma of auto-fellatio-Philly-pseudo world. But, in reality...Sid owns Philly. Always has...always will.

And just how many NHL games have you won, dickweed? Shut your yap or someone will shut it for you. Get my drift?

BTW, Micah Parsons still going to Oklahoma? lol

I don’t think he owned them last time they met in the playoffs. Who won that series? Please remind me.

I think the only fan base that calls them the Cryers is Pittsburgh. Which is hilarious since your team always gets PP after PP , was it four in one period. You definitely wear black and gold goggles, watched that game and the only complaints I saw were when Voracek was clearly hooked. Of course they would never put the pens in a 5-on-3 disadvantage. That only happens FOR the Pens when they need a goal.

BTW - great production from Brassard so far. I told you guys he was washed up. 2 points in 5 games!! And someone on this board called Gina 30 goal scorer!!!!

Your ignorance knows no bounds. You will go in the ignore board now!

I'm a fan of all pro sports teams in Pittsburgh. Have been all my life. I've watched a lot of Penguins hockey games and frankly I have no idea why Sidney Crosby has been labeled a "whiner". Maybe I'm missing something, but I've seen nothing but class and sportsmanship from him over his entire career. Naturally when he feels there is a bad call against him, he complains, but all players do. And besides, he will also complain about bad calls against his teammates. Afterall, he is the team captain and seems to have accepted that responsibility. Frankly, the slams against Crosby seem spurred by jealousy over substance.

Hilarious thread. The Penguins have five Stanley Cup championships since the Flyers last one, they have the best player in the game, and basically own the Flyers. But the Philly fans, Philly papers, and Philly players show their true colors as usual . . .

There was a Flyers beat writer on the radio yesterday who said the Flyers want the Pens to win the division so they won't get them in round 1. The Flyers would much rather get the Caps, Pens are just a horrible matchup for Philly.

He doesn't whine. When he came into the league as a hot shot he got killed. At 17. Yet that is what these morons hang their hat on still. Pathetic actually.

Okay, I’ll play along. I’ve lived in a lot of places up and down the I95 corridor and outside of eastern PA, just about every place I’ve been knows/uses the name “cryers”...it’s just too easy (like squealers/Steelers).

Next, the myth that the Pens are somehow bestowed some egregious amount of PPs by the league to assist their cause. This year alone, the Pens have had 216 PPs vs being short-handed 224 times. Philly’s numbers, btw, are 223 PPs vs 189 short-handed opportunities (bettman must love him some flyers). So there’s that.

I’d remind you of who won the last playoff series between the 2 teams (assuming by your demeanor that it was the fly-guys), but it’s been so long since Philly made the post season I’m having a hard time thinking that far back.

Finally, when Pitt is able to roll 4 legit lines in the playoffs, Brassard will prove his worthiness.

Who has won two Cups and two Conn Smythe trophies since the teams last met in the playoffs? Please remind us....and you think Sid loses an ounce of sleep over what happened 5 years ago given what he and his team has accomplished since?

Pens had 4 power plays last night. Flyers had 5.....yeah, the Pens always get the calls.

As for Brassard, he's been in this lineup for a whopping 5 games and had 6 different line mates due to shuffled lineup for injuries. Pens aren't relying on him to be a 50 pt player on the 3rd line. He's filling shoes left by Bonino. Two pts in 5 games is par for the course.

This post might just be the best example I've ever seen of "the pot calling the kettle black." Thanks for the morning laugh.

lol, Omar. You were my first example. When have you ever talked shit to Flyers fans in person like you've done on this board?? Yeah, I thought so.

Power Plays last night:

Pens - 4
Flyers - 5

But don't let facts get in the way of a brilliant argument. And the Pens didn't acquire Brassard because he's a point-producing machine in the regular season. They acquired him because he has the 3rd most playoff points in the Eastern Conference since 2013 (Malkin and Crosby being #1 and #2, of course).

I'm sure I'd be absolutely terrified [that's sarcasm, though I'm sure you'd miss the "nuance" there] . . . and just review the jacka$$ tone of your posts compared to my posts to see who the "internet tough guy" is. You're insufferable.

Your tone is fine, your content is crap.

"Omar", that can't be your real name, right?? lol

See ya!

Congrats to the pens. I thought it was a poorly officiated game but the flyers are still playing like crap defensively and their special teams have been garbage all year so that's on them. I think we flyers fans have one more year of this before the tide turns for a while. The fixes to our ills are in the organization.

For a poster that posts more "tough guy" shit than just about any poster on this board, you really have your panties in a bunch over the Cryers. Typical Philly clown.

Grow up some day.

Just curious, are the fixes more team speed?

Squealers? Cryers?
Sounds like things a 5 year old would come up with

So many things here...
1. Brassard having 2 points in 5 games is fine. No one is asking him to put up anywhere near a point a game. He's playing solid defense and gives the Pens a ton of flexibility. There's going to be an adjustment period. We got Brassard for what he'll add in the playoffs. Not in February and March. That said, yes, the Pens should have probably added another defenseman.
2. We all knew reality would set in for Philly with Tampa, Florida, Pittsburgh and Boston as a four game stretch. They haven't won any of them yet. We'll see how they do against Boston tonight. Philadelphia is building to something but they're a year or two away IMO
3. Sid's an elite player but Geno's the best player in hockey right now. When you roll lines with Sid, Geno then Kessel you're going to be very tough to beat. They may go out in the first round (as could pretty much any team) but the Pens will be favored.
4. The Pens finally figured out how to play defensively without Cole. Letang needs Domo because without a great defensive defenseman next to him he's useless. So you split up Maata and Schultz and allow them to make up for the shortcomings us Oleksiak and Ruhwedel.
5. Flyers fans complaining about the penalty calls simply doesn't make sense. Don't go 0-5 on the powerplay and you won't have a problem. The Pens, recently, haven't been getting many powerplay chances at all.

It was a good game and, if they meet in the playoffs, it will be a great series that will probably go at least 6. Weird thread.
