Phil does a nice job, but have to say the last few years seem to have more info re prior year than upcoming season. i always thought he did a great job picking teams that have an inflection season, and spots the guys who make a difference who may not have even played in the prior year. also picked up Lindy's Big Ten edition, and it was pretty good coverage. They list 5 NFL prospects = JJ, Bates, McGovern, Reid and Amani. to be aware of Reid, you have to be following the team.

a few years ago, i picked up his mag on the Big Ten and he had alot of good detail on each team. Have not seen the BIG edition for a few years.

he has us on the outside of the top 10, but stating we could make a run at the playoff if we can run the table in the home games. tOSU, UMich, MSU and Wisky ranked ahead of us. schedule is a beast this year. not many weeks we can have a let down.

I think all that is fair...though I don't think we finish 5th in the Big Ten it is certainly possible. Of course I actually think replacing Saquon's ability in the pass game (receiving and in protection) and Gesicki's offense production is going to be very difficult if not impossible to replace this year. 2019 is still the season I think we're going to be a legit threat to win the national title...assuming Tommy lives up to the hype...Slade too

Huge talents to replace. However, if the OL is an upgrade, it should help our Run/Pass game. It may take fewer inputs from super star to make good things happen, if the OL holds up better.

Fortunately McSorley is an experienced field general, who will have a good feel for what works with the players who are stepping up to fill those spots. Plus, some replacements have been in the system for awhile and may be stronger and better adapted to their roles.

Replacing talent every few years is an aspect of college football that has kept fans guessing about their teams for generations. ;)

Does Steele still write in manner as if his publisher charges by the letter?
