PIAA Team Championship Chatter

Yes, Nazareth and BECA will meet in the finals again with BECA prevailing this year. Erie Cathedral has an argument to be the 2nd best dual team in the state IMO and will take 3rd. Going out on a limb and saying that the winner of the CR South Canon-McMillan 1st round match will take 4th. Homer pick, but I've done the matchups. CRS-CM will probably come down to the coin flip and has 3 or 4 toss-up matches and their paths through the consys will come down to the same. Kiski may be the 4th best team but will run into ECP in the consy semis.

As far as AA, I don't follow quite as closely, but it seems that Reynolds and Southern Columbia are the best two teams.

Dice, What happened to my alma mater Easton? I don't live in PA any more and have not followed the program but the Rovers used to be good, very good!

They lose kids to Becahi, program run by Billman now, numbers are improving again. Young team, they are starting a lot of freshman and sophomores. Still good, not as great,, just been surpassed by Locals Nazo n Becahi

I’m not dice, but attend many d-11 duals

Just curious, why would they lose kids to Becahi? Is the coaching not that good at Easton, or something else? :)

I’ll guess and say there are pockets of Forks and Palmer with the $$$ to send their kids to a smaller school with great academics. Easton is a good school district but does it have the overall package of a Becahi without the drawbacks of a bigger Easton? And yes the coaching at Becahi has proven top flight providing kids athletic opportunities to get where they want, not saying Easton doesn’t, just my 2 cents

Well, I grew up in Palmer, and that makes sense. Disappointed that the program kinda went into the Rathole.
I knew Naz and Becahi were taking some football kids, which was because of the Easton coach but didn't realize it was happening in wrestling too.

Yes, I heard that many kids weren’t coming out for the team in football due to some coaching issues. I think the wrestling the program is trending up with Billman though, Jv doing well n 4 freshman starters I think. Don’t get too down on the wrestling , it’ll be back soon

Diceman-Thoughts on Kiski vs Naz in the Qtrs? I think Naz is probably the # 3 or 4 team in the bracket, but if they get past Kiski they get a straight shot to the finals. Like you stated the two best teams will wrestle in the Semi's on the top side of the bracket IMHO.

Agree with this. They are on their way up with Billman and they are young. Give them a couple years. They are still a top 20 team in the state right now, but that doesn't get you to Hershey in D11.

Close match. Naz has a lot of flexibility and will need it against Kiski. I'll call it 7-7 with Naz winning on bonus, but it would not surprise me to see Kiski prevail.

Not a close one, although Nazo lost a few really close matches. Kiski vs Becahi Should be F*N

Beca got a scare but survived Erie Prep, 33-26. Came down to the last match (106), which Beca won by decision.

I've been away from PA for years too. I see that Clearfield still is a dual meet power. They and Bald Eagle were always the teams to beat in central PA.

Clearfield has not been a power in a while.
Bald Eagle has been dormant for a decade, but with Lloyd running the elementary program again, the Bainey Wright club in Morrisdale, the McKnight Taylor club in Julian and Guenot coaching Bald Eagle is coming back strong.

AAA finals are on PCN right now.

Joey Blumer's brother just decked Luca Frinzi with a half.

Got it.

Kiski up 15-11 on Beca thru 6 weights, leading 5-2 after first at 195.

Beca bumped their 195 up to 220 and got the fall. Kiski's 220 Rachaled himself. 18-17 Beca.

Kiski HWT Isaac Reid won 12-3 and not nearly that close, was an absolute beatdown. 22-17 Kiski.

Very active HWT with some good lighter weight technique. Not in Steveson's class but worthy of his #1 PA ranking. Scott Moore will be very happy.

Reid vs. Erie Prep's Dafoe could be a very fun AAA state final. Hopefully PIAA doesn't screw up that bracket.

106 Beca WBF 5:15 wuth a half + far bar. Kiski's guy might have hurt the barred shoulder. 23-22 Beca.

113 Beca 2-0 SV, scoreless after regulstion but entertaining. Both guys very competitive. IMO Kiski would've won if it had gone to rideouts.

26-22 Beca with 3 weights left, will be favored in the next 2, heavily favored at 126. Kiski will need an upset.

120 Beca 3-2 on a standing suck back, Kiski was very close to an escape. Reversal at the end. Kiski coulda hsd this one too.

29-22 Beca. Beca will be heavily favored at 126 (Herrmann) and 132 (Papcsy).
