I don't have a link, but I like the contest that the Nevills family plays, according to an article that Tom linked this week (thanks!). You can choose only one wrestler of any particular seed for your team. I suppose that means if you choose Zain, you can't choose Nolf, since you can choose only one #1 seed. Should we make a contest like that?

hanzolo,

welcome to the board. I think you're on the path to what Dogwelder referenced. The article about Nick didn't give details on how the pool is scored.

Perhaps we can do something like this as a BWI pool next year. I fear that it's too late to put it together for this year's NCAAs, especially as many folks are traveling today/tomorrow to get to St. Louis, and even those not traveling should get more than a day to make their picks.

Post more in the coming year. Next March, make a post reminding me about this type of pool, and I'll see what can be organized.

Wrestling Fans,

It's that time of the year again. The NCAA Wrestling tournament is just around the corner. Most of you know the drill. Each team receives a $100,000 budget. Using the attached spreadsheet, build your own team by picking a wrestler at each weight. Your team earns points based on how many points the wrestlers you choose actually earn in the tournament. The higher the seed, the higher the cost for the wrestler. Ie., number one seeds cost $30,000 while an unseeded wrestler costs $3,000. Build a team to fit your $100k budget. The person with the highest points wins the pool. Its $20 an entry. Please Paypal me at paul.weibel3@gmail.com. I can also accept Venmo.

Last year we paid out $940 in prizes to the top 5 place winners and it was a pretty good race going into the finals.

Entries are due before the start of the tournament on Thursday. Once all entries are received, I will send out an update email with all entries as well as payout structure. Email updates will be provided throughout the tournament.

Email with any questions or concerns. Please feel free to pass out to any additional fans who may want to participate.

Haven't seen any where u pick every match and get points for every correct pick - progressing in value by round. I'll keep looking

Ours (the one Nick mentioned) is a draft so wrestlers are exclusive to your team. You can have a maximum of one of each seed, #1-8, (as many #9 through unseeded as you want) and 1 wrestler per weight for a 10-man team. Tournament scoring (advancement, bonus, and place points).

It's a great game. Makes you take interest in wrestlers/weights you wouldn't normally follow. Most of the time, the winning fantasy team competes close with the real winning team.

I know it's late but if you have some buddies that you want to play with, hope that helps.

Thanks, Coach. I'm a huge fan of what your family is doing for wrestling in California!

crap, I didn't check the deadlines. I missed InterMat's. Then I was entering my picks for WrestleStat, and didn't enter the tiebreakers (didn't know what they were). When I found out what they were, I discovered that my entries had been voided, and by the time I resubmitted, I had missed (by like 20 seconds) the deadline.

Oh well. I'll know for next year.
