Suite for NCAAs in Philly

Just locked down our suite yesterday. $45K for 18 - $2500 per person, plus beverages.

Same Brown crew I've been going with (off and on, I've missed since COVID) since 2011 when a suite cost us $480.

We're probably going to grab some seats outside the suite and rotate early sessions to reduce our costs to under $2000 per. As long as I get Friday, I'm happy to give up Saturday. Saturday morning nobody is there and you can sit where you want and even when NCAAs aren't in Philly, I always fly back and watch the finals at home with my buddy.

So did you get $55K total with the $10K allowance for food/beverage or $45K total? Damn. I had mine reserved with deposit since before the 2024 tournament and am getting dinged $55K.

I didn't do the negotiating but my good friend did. They started with the $55K including the $10K allowance for the suite that we wanted, but he declined and they offered him another suite (subpar) for $45K - he declined again. A couple of days later they came back with $45K without the allowance for the suite we wanted. He accepted with the proviso we are going to negotiate beverages only I think for no more than $5K.

I don't know if I got that exactly right, but I think I'm close. Anyway, I'm planning that it will end up being $2750 with beverages (adult), and like I said, I'll probably rotate a couple of sessions out to bring my cost down a grand. It doesn't sound like we did much better than you, except to limit the damages they are going to stick us with for beverages. We're a parking lot crew anyway, so no need for excessive consumption in the suite - that has already taken place, lol.

Well, at least it used to. I hit 60 this year and while I still consume, maybe not like 10 years ago, haha.

Might as well throw your money in the pizza oven!

Wow! I think I paid $1200 in Pittsburgh for the Pitt suite that is under the seating where the Pens enter the arena and the seats were down front on the rail. It was great. Open bar and food entire time. Sat in front of Pitt's athletic director and her son for finals. Was helping explain scoring to them. (She was just fired)

I'm very interested if anyone has a single ticket in a suite for Philly.

Yes, that is my Brown crew. Bobby is one of my best friends. We grew up together - 2 years apart - and are even closer today after coaching, raising kids, etc. together for the last 20 years or so. Our children are close as well.

Which Joe - Joe Bury? If so, yeah but only through Bobby. We drove together to Cleveland along with Kirk a few years ago. I can't remember if he was with us at B1Gs last year or not.

We have a crew going to the Lehigh match. Bobby, Kirk, and Bury I think are all confirmed, plus a few others I think. We'll meet you in the parking lot. ;)

I remember reading an interview with Seth Rogan once, in which the interviewer began asking him about all the raunchiness in his stuff.

He had a long, articulate answer about the differences in perception between different eras and it ended with Rogan saying: "I mean, have you SEEN Tom Hanks in Bachelor Party?" lmao

The suite is already full - actually over capacity. We are getting the extra tickets to rotate guys through and accommodate the people already in the group.

If things change, I'll keep this in mind, but this is not likely. Sorry.

It wasn't until recently that I found out where Brown University is, promptly forgot, and had to just now look it up again. And as far as knowing anything about Providence, it is summed up in this line by the Eagles in The Last Resort, "She came from Providence, the one in Rhode Island." Some famous alumni from Brown include: Joe Paterno, Emma "Hermione Granger" Watson, John Krasinski, Ted Turner and Janet Yellen. The entire list of accomplished alumni is formidable, but pales in comparison to my alma mater, Southern Oregon University, which has the formidable alumnus Gaylon Sells to their credit. He is world-renowned for his erudite and nuanced positions on all things Penn State wrestling. Rumor has it he once won the North Bend Invitational in high school, but that can't be confirmed since it occurred before the internet era.

Sorry about the previous paragraph. Some retired police officer intent on reliving his glory days took over the keyboard. I told him he needs to get a life, but all he muttered was that back in his wrestling days the wrestlers knew what it meant to be tough and no one worth their salt would have dared to promote themselves on social media. He then ran outside to yell at the neighbor kids to get off his lawn. Poor guy!

Any advice for getting from PHL to Hyatt Centric? Any idea of what an Uber would run?
Uber has an estimator on its website ... but offhand, guessing it'll be around $40-$50, maybe more depending on arrival time, traffic, etc.

Other option would be the Septa airport line, should be around $7 to Suburban Station, then walk about 3-4 blocks to the hotel.

Uber will be faster when there's no traffic (i.e., late at night). If you leave the airport anywhere near rush hour -- let's say after 2:30 pm -- then train + walk will be about the same amount of time.

Add to the above: if you decide to thread the needle -- take the train to Suburban Station, then Uber from there to the hotel ...

Optimal pickup is on 17th St, near the 17th/JFK intersection but not right at JFK. 17th runs southbound directly to the hotel, and is less busy/easier to access the car than JFK.

Over on TOS for some football discussion and was floored by how cheap you can get a private suite for the CFP semifinals. A guy over there purchased a corner private suite with a bartender for 44 people at $325 per ticket.

I know NCAAs are three days, but we're paying $45K for 20 people without alcohol. You do the math and realize how important the tournament is to college wrestling. It is pretty much everything - the demand to attend is greater than for the CFP semifinals. I realize there are some variance to the demand - CFP is not planned out years in advance, only two teams competing, etc. - but it makes you think.

If the future is as dour as some are predicting, it will greatly diminish the tournament. That's going to be a big blow to ALL the programs - including the bell cows. The big boys are going to have to play nice at some point with the have-nots or they're all going to lose.

They guy with the Orange Bowl tickets has a private terrace - standing room only - not a suite. Not sure what they are like, but I am certain the real suites at the Orange Bowl are not in this price range.

Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense, the pricing was shocking to me.

We just got word that we will have 4 seats available in our suite at NCAAs in Philly. It is an 18 man suite. I apologize to those that were interested before, but we did not have room and honestly I forgot who you were. $3000 per man, just as at the beginning. Text only to 570-527-1235.

No offense but you seem too levelheaded, I would be interested if they could get that crackers guy from the Rutgers board or maybe that vodka guy or iron dude from Iowa forum. That would add some fireworks to the room.
LOL...In NYC we had Ohio State and Rutger fans in our suite. Now THAT was fun!! PS...Down to one seat.
