Pitino mentions Paterno/Penn State getting screwed in press conf today

Thought this was a cool quote from Pitino below. He was discussing the allegations and similarity of his position of being unaware of an allegation and referred to how Paterno got screwed.......

".....but the one person I will never question in my life, as a young basketball coach, is Joe Paterno. He would be the one guy I hold above reproach of everything."

Also went on to say that Paterno had Pitino over to his house to offer him the Penn State basektball gig in the '70s. I know the Pitino association with Penn State has been mentioned on the board before but I've never heard Pitino actually comment on it. In his press conference from earlier today he makes mention of the Paterno -PSU connection, JoePa getting screwed, and how the NCAA handles the UofL situation is a complete guess and crap shoot because of how ridiculous they handled PSU. His comments about Paterno appear near the end at the 11:30 mark of the pc.

I am absolutely blown away by this thread and some of the comments in it. I spend some time in this board and read how much of a scumbag guys like Meyer, Saben, and Harbaugh are routinely. One of the biggest scums in all of ncaa basketball says that about Joe Paterno and all other things in life are wiped out. Shocking and disappointing all in one. Very interesting take on things.

I agree with you there which is why this thread threw me for a loop. So many on this board condemn others like the coaches I've mentioned earlier but because Pitino said what he said it makes things all better. I just think that take on things is disingenuous

Until it can be proven undeniably that Pitino new about the hookers (current scandal) I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. As far as his infidelity he seems to have patched things up with his family so who am I to judge? I appreciate Pitino's kind words for Joepa. It's sad that "intimidation" kept alot of Paterno's coaching peers quiet.
