Might there be a trend here?

2016, Game 1 at Pitt: L 39-42. First year the staff actually has sufficient player numbers to run a normal daily practice. Down 28 - 7 midway thru the second quarter, green-as- grass PSU comes within an off-the-fingertips pass to DaeSean Hamilton of coming all the way back late in the fourth- . Nonetheless, "knowledgeable" PSU fans determine James Franklin has had enough time and, historically severe sanctions be damned, he still needs to go.

2017, Game 2 at PSU: W 33-14. Just like beating Akron.

2018, Game 3 at Pitt: W 51-6. Per Matt Herb, the greatest implosion the 'Burgh has seen since Three Rivers was brought down.

2019, Game 4 at PSU: ?? Time will tell. 51 points in 2018 gives Franklin and staff a pretty tough act to follow, but not a whole lot of reason for optimism if your name is Pitt. If your name is Pat Narduzzi, you need a whole new kind of
lipstick to put on the pig that rolled into Heinz Field Sept. 8, 2018.

All of which suggests we may be watching two programs moving in decidedly different directions, especially when considering that a young PSU team was playing on the road versus an opponent whose roster was said to include 14 fifth-year seniors.
