Pittsburgh blog is about to make you blow a gasket (selling "Joe Knew" shirts)

"Due to the unfair harassment"...really? They got unfairly harassed for unfairly harassing...wow, apparently they don't see the irony in this.

In their stupidity, they think that their harassment of a university community, denigration of a good man who followed the law, and insensitivity towards the victim all are justified.

Unfortunately, I fear this is what Penn Staters attending the game in Pittsburgh will be walking into. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's just another football road game but I fear there's real potential for things to get out of hand in pockets around the stadium.

Exactly. I think the PSU AD office should put out a memo prior to the game about expected fan behavior. I hope no one brings their kids, wives or girlfriends to this one. This is the venom pit only for big boys. Even with at least 1/2 being PSU fans, I would expect the Pitt half to comprised of many low-brow, child men with big chips on their shoulders for PSU who have been waiting for years for this moment. And let's get it straight, the students and millennials probably will be more passive as they don't have history of the rivalry. The worst will be men in their 40s\50s\maybe 60s!. Expect gross shirts, taunts, spews, signs, misdirected anger over Sandusky situation at a minimum. Any PSU fans who spew back, I would watch out for violence. The Pitt board is certainly an eye into a lot of angry people who seem to attribute problems with their alma mater's state (or even personal state) to Penn State directly.

They messed with the bull. They got the fvcking horns.

Deal with it.

We Are!!!
Actually there was a very large Oskee-wow-wow effort that accomplished this shutdown, with a 48-hour head start ( via anonymous tip) contacting the T-shirt company and more. ;) If there's one thing I won't tolerate from any fan base, it 's something like this that keeps at-risk kids in harm's way with bogus information. Not to mention attempting to profit at the expense of the most vulnerable.

I wouldn't miss it for anything.

I personally think the shirt is out of taste. I have my opinions about the whole thing, as does the rest of us. I'd give $20 towards stopping pedophilla before buying the shirt. Also, I don't see why I'd want to wear that shirt to a big game like this instead of wearing the beautiful Pitt script ;)

It is factually incorrect, so of course it is out of taste.

Perpetuating lies like this keeps the spotlight off the professionals that actually failed those kids.

My local news said Pitt set a new season ticket sales record, didn't say it was from PSU fans buying them. Wish everyone would boycott the damn game and get their season ticket money back

Total Myth: Follow me here:
Pitt Season ticket holders last year :45,000 (no Penn State on the Schedule)
Pitt Student Ticket:10,000
Visiting Fan:5,000
That totals 60K annual without Penn State buying season tickets
Heinze holds 68K
That leaves 8k for other to purchase season tickets (average fan, other teams fans etc)

No way Penn State will out number Pitt.

the funny part about this is that the idiots that buy and wear these will simply be adding to the BLUE and WHITE in their stands making the spitt crowd look even smaller on TV.

No its out of taste because its morally bankrupt to be trying to profit off of child abuse. What a sick fan base they are to be so excited over child abuse.

I have to be honest here - I've been to many campuses and seen a ton of pretty vulgar t-shirts regarding the opponents (including at PSU). My first thought on this one is it was a bunch of Pitt frat boys' drunk idea trying to create a dumpster fire. Easy to brush that off. People like this exist on every campus.

Reading that the shirts have now been cancelled, you can probably bank on one of two things happening. There is no way this guy took these shirts down b/c of some PSU fans disapproval.

I can totally see Pitt's admin or AD pushing it because of how awful it paints their fan base (make no mistake here - even days and years following the arrest of Sandusky, we never saw anything close to this until the game @Rutgers in 2014). Less likely but still possible, a little nudge from an attorney about a slander lawsuit given the subject matter and its complete departure from established fact.

After reading their Twitter feed (where they comment on Pitt, penguins, politics, etc) I'm guessing they got a call from some lawyer.

Pics of the shirt for sale are gone, they say that it was done by friends who didn't expect this to happen, and then emphatically state 0 will be sold- you won't see them, followed by apparently shutting down the site after 24hrs- seems like lawyer involvement. No Pitt site is going to do that because some Penn St fans were upset.

You doxed him? Now that's CLASSLESS.

No that is unbelievable. The guy probably woke up to hundreds of calls from psycho fans threatening his life

Being anonymous only appeals to those who wish to harm. It's a lot harder to stand by your actions and statements when you are known.

Besides that, he entered the information online to register the site, which is public. He chose to post slanders, hateful, victim shaming material on his twitter. Anything he gets isn't enough. Everything you put on the internet is there forever, or should be assumed as so.

Be a man and stand by your ignorance or think first.

Pitt's average attendance last year for 6 home games was 48,150....which is also inflated based on the ND game, that alone had 18,500 (26% Heinz Field capacity) more than any other Pitt home game.

If your season tickets sold is 45,000 (and another 10k with students) and you're below that on total attendance without your premiere game, it's not hard to figure out where many of those season tickets go. I doubt PSU fans outnumber Pitt fans on the whole but it there will be a lot more PSU representation than ND had, you can more or less guarantee that.

I reckon they got a call from The Pitt AD. (Who went to Fresno State).

Yeah, I'm sure the university of Pittsburgh can't wait to be apologizing for their fans trash behavior. Then, they'll be attacked in the media. I say go for it & show the world the losers you are.

If anything, you'll be major contributors to the public sullying of the institution nicknamed Pitt whose football team you appear to worship at the expense of child abuse victim/survivors.

No they don't worship their team. They just hate penn state more than they like Pitt. They are a true cult.

Our arguments are all held up by documents and quotes by people of authority which everyone goes out of their way to ignore.

Pitt people arguments?
"Joe knew"
"Joes in hell"

And that's it... Nothing of substance. Just a bunch of mouth breathers that contribute nothing to life other than tying up dilapidated row houses and air conditioning at the welfare office.

In case you didn't recognize the paraphrasing, it was sort of a mad libs. Think about it for a minute. :)

And of course what you wrote is also quite correct.

Here's his picture. Remember this face...
