I’ve mentioned it before, but the best pizza I’ve ever had is Papa Del’s stuffed in Champaign, IL. Pepperoni and sausage. Fantastic.

Thin crust. There are times I will have a deep dish pizza (last night for instance) but not when I want pizza. When I want pizza it’s thin crust.

Best pizza I’ve ever eaten was in Manhattan. And I almost didn’t get it. Was there for a broadway show and stopped for lunch. We ordered slices individually because we were a small group of individuals. 30 minutes later and still no slices, I went to the counter to inquire. I was told they were busy and selling full pies before slices. I let him know that the four of us had ordered the equivalent of a pie, and had paid more money, but I’d gladly accept the refund if it meant getting my pizza more quickly.

We got our slices from the next pie out of the oven.

Next to Pepes in New Haven or one of the Brooklyn places, I'll take Anellios in Corning, NY

Look at that, we found common ground, nothing better than Pepes with Rosie’s (now closed) a close second in Lordship next to what was Avco.

John’s Wildwood in Edinboro, PA....still my all time favorite. Pizza Place in Parkersburg, WV is second.

Pizza used to be a LOT better years ago. Especially back in the late 60s, early 70s. I've asked a few of the places that I used to really like if they have changed anything. They all say the same thing. The cheese.

Overall, of the three states where I spend most of my time, I do notice a general difference. Pennsylvania seems to be the easiest state by far to find a good pizza. But it's still harder than it used to be. Most pizza in New York sucks in comparison. New Jersey is probably on a par with New York.

Even Pizza Hut used to be half decent years ago. Now, it's next to inedible. I will say Dominos has upped their game. When I'm desperate, late at night, and there's nothing else open, I pretty much have the Dominos sauce/toppings/cheese mix perfected to where it's actually not too bad. : ^ )

So many great pizza places in NYC. Pic #1 is the sausage pie from Don Antonio. The next two are from Capizzi, maybe the best pizza I've ever had. First is the margherita pie with portobello mushrooms, then we have their specialty loaded pie. Lastly is Marta. The first is unique featuring egg and potato, the second is sausage and mushroom.

Italy. I spent 4 weeks at Aviano Air Base in northern Italy in 2015 and ate a lot of pizza. Nothing anywhere compares. Not sure what makes it so good. It just is.

That is awesome. New York big slices awesome as well. Pretty much a tie.

Best Pizza?

I voted 'other' because my personal favorite (for nostalgic as well as taste reasons) is Western PA/Wheeling/Steubenville style pizza, which is a thick, airy crust with a light touch of sauce and cheese with finely chopped pepperoni. My favorite place that makes this kind of pizza is actually in Alide, VA - Quattro Goombas Winery (the owner is a Western PA native and Blackhawk HS grad).

All that said, I love all pizza - big NY style slices, deep dish Chicago pizza, and the Neapolitan stuff you get in most of Europe (in Bosnia, they served it with a dollop of sour cream in the middle). For true pizza lovers, you should watch the first episode of Season 1 of Ugly Delicious on Netflix. They do a pretty deep dive into the best pizzas in America/the world, what makes a pizza a pizza (if anything other than tomato sauce, cheese, and meat it's a flat bread...), and the virtues of Domino's. Some really good stuff. The stuff they do in Naples with the AVPN (True Neopoeatan Pizza Association) is really, really neat to watch. Also neat is watching Michelin star chef David Chang (who hosts) tell a Brooklyn pizza owner the best pizza culture in America is in New Haven, CT (he also says the best pizza in the world is in Tokyo) while at the same time telling everyone Domino's is pretty damn good. Worth binging if you like food history/foodie culture...

Buzzi's, D&G, or Police Station. Much debate on the three over the past 40 years. All great.

Must be from Beaver County to understand.

My mom would say Buzzi’s hands down. Brother is all Police Station.

That picture you included is not round thus, not a pizza.

Old Forge and OF style as follows in order:
Colarusso's (actually Avoca)
Anthony's
Cafe Rinaldi
Cusumano's
Arcaro & Genell
Pizza Perfect (Shavertown)
That's a solid list. Agree that Collaruso Avoca is the best Collaruso. Their Jessup place is a close second. Pizza Lovin is also great. No Salerno?
