Poll: more likely to beat Iowa in Dual on Friday or win National Championship?

Which is more likely?

  • Penn State beating Iowa in the dual meet on a Friday

    Votes: 26 18.3%
  • Penn State winning the national championship this year

    Votes: 116 81.7%

  • Total voters
    142
I’ve seen some posters suggesting that we have a chance at the national championship. Wanted to see if anyone thought we had a chance on Friday.

Too early too make ncaa scenarios

But regarding the dual. If Penn State wins these are musts
Nick Lee gets a maj. Hall beats Kem. Joseph beats Bull.
RBY, Brooks, Rasheed, and Nevills underdogs but have almost realistic chances too get an upset

Only non competitive matches will be 125 and 141. 149 Verk will likely lose but sometimes Lugo makes his wins close

This is Wrestling 101.

Duals favor balanced teams

NCAAs favor teams w the most
champs / finalists.
I remember the documentary about the Central Dauphin team led by Peppelmans and a couple of other studs. One of them remarked something like: “The state tournament was the only tournament our team won the whole season.”

Iowa is pretty healthy right now with 141 being the only significant injury. I think about this dual with a healthy Berge and healthy Raptor and it might have been hyped as dual of the century. So much can change between now and March. God forbid a big injury to Lee or Desanto and the team race looks completely different. College wrestling is so physical that it is hard to count tournament points in January when we have no idea who will still be standing healthy in March. I wish injuries were not such a big part of the equation every year but they are a huge factor.

Healthy? If you wanna call 3 guys in knee braces healthy... seriously they in great shape this year and even next. Not to sound like an ass, but if they could afford to lose anybody, Murin would be my pick,he wasnt beating Lee or Pletch anyway.

I expect 149 to be a 1 or 2 TD match. Lugo is more likely to get the 1 or 2, but you never know.

Interesting fact about Verk. When he's stayed off his back he's never lost by more than 2 points.

The film is called "Take downs and Falls" I believe. My son's team was in the league with them while they were creating the film. It's a good watch if you can find it.

After watching tonight’s match, I like Penn States chances a lot more now. A healthy Berge and Rasheed at full strength is a huge difference, and I don’t see much bonus points potential from any Iowa wrestler after Desanto.

You don;t see much bonus out of Lee whose bonus rate in this season's matches is 100%? Yikes. o_O
