Any hs wrestling gurus care to share their class of 27 and 28 targets you think PSU will target. Projected weights would help too.... lol

Miller, Sidun, and Bachmann are 1,2, and 3 for 2027. Miller to Iowa but PSU definitely in the mix for the other 2. Both look like 125-141 in college I would think(both at 120 right now). Paul Kenny also in there. Ignacio Villasenor is 4 and since he’s at Stillwater already probably ends up at Okie St. the kid I really love is Jesse Grejada out of CA. Wrestling 138 right now and is #5 in the class.

Any worry about Sidun breaking his hand recently?

Are there any other top 5 or so wrestlers from class of 2026 that are still uncommitted that Cael is interested in?

I think those rankings will change quite a bit over the next year or so. Miller will stay there, but after that things will change quite a bit.

I know a lot of guys on here love Sidun & Bachmann, but I just don't see a PSU guy when I look at them. A lot of these rankings are just result based IMO, which doesn't always hold up for HS sophs. There are some guys lower on the list that seem pretty dynamic and with the right mindset could really climb.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Does anyone know how bad of a break it is? I'll be very surprised if he's ever over 133 in college.
So I haven't been able to confirm yet, I would imagine it's not long term, but there are those quirky weird things that can be more worrisome.

He is a STUD and fun to watch.

I think we're done in 2026, except for depth guys (some of whom could start elsewhere).

The Raneys are rumored to be looking at Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio State, and OKST. (OKST aeems unlikely with both Forrest and Vega there.)

Mocco has visited PSU, Ohio State, NC State, Iowa, and OKST. Am guessing he'll go tan -- likely 4-yr starter with excellent traing partners (Dhesi, Hemida, Feldman, and RTC Coach Moore). Last summer he got wrecked by Cole -- high probability of being a 2-yr starter at PSU.

Munaretto has visited Illinois, Missouri, Arizona State, UNC, VT, OKST, and Ohio State. No idea where he's going but it probably isn't here. Rooting for Cenzo.

Coby Merrill is probably not joining his brother at OKST, with Ross and Austin Johnson committed. Wouldn't count on him coming here though. I don't think there' interest in either direction.

Adam Waters has been to Lehigh, Missouri, Michigan, ASU, UNC, VT, OKST, and Ohio State. Doesn't matter, no room for another 184/197 top-20 guy.

Anyone else is pure depth at PSU.

Did I miss anyone who might be a starter? So that's 15 guys with serious AA and Champ potential that will be around 'til at least 2027. I think we'll see a year or two of light-ish numbers of recruits coming aboard.

Can't imagine it's too bad. In that match, he pinned his opponent despite the broken hand.

Sidun going above 133 would be a shock. He's at 120 and barely shorter than his dad, already taller than his mom, and built like a hydrant. More Tomasello than Nico.

He could be very good in college, and certainly he'll be in high demand, but height/reach will be a challenge. OTOH, Tomasello.

I think that you are correct here about the rankings. It's hard to know how long or much a very old soph or junior will continue to develop physically. These guys will be very good if they stay healthy, but I'm not projecting top of the podium just yet. The two mentioned in particular have a ton of miles Bachmann seems to more physical maturing left for a 17 year old than most based on the eye test.

I think that the worry with Landon is that he might be about as developed as he's going to get, which if he stays at 125 is still probably AA territory. He is a beast and fun to watch. I've coached against him with some damn good kids over the years, lost every time.

There’s been several years where we’ve had 0-1 highly ranked recruits. But they’ve fallen around classes with huge hauls. History repeating itself.
Agreed. We had an amazing, nearly historic class in 2025. That means in 2027 we’ll have a big class. Who are some of the 2027 stars who we think might be leaning PSU?

Lol, mods moved some posts I replied to but not my replies ...

2027 will likely be another light class for us. It's not as strong overall, its top 3-5-10 aren't as good, and we still won't need anybody after crushing the last 3 classes.

Lehigh has to be the early favorite for the Bachmanns. Would be a near-lock if their training partner and Puerto Rico teammate Darian Cruz hadn't moved to Penn.

Of course things might change in a year. Until then IMO we should expect to suffer another national title with the merely 15 or so current/future champs already on board.

PSU's stealth visits often throw me off on who we are in the running for. Kids could have visited and we don't even know since they don't do the singlet shoot as part of it.

Cael often also just sees a kid in person and works in secrecy.

Marcus Blaze never officially visited PSU until he was rumored to virtually be a done deal.

I personally think we won’t land Mocco. I could see us going to the portal (if) the Twins leave. Not sure how they stack up with our future plans but if they both can’t crack the lineup, then we may see them both portal together. If they do portal, I can definitely see us looking at our Big Red friends up north. Not sure what is gonna go on with that lineup, but they currently have Jude and Rocco committed to them in the Class of 2025. I know Rocco’s brothers is the starter at 197. Both Rocco and Jude are highly touted at their weights so we may see a transfer from one of them possibly

133 and 141?
That makes sense, but they've said they see themselves as 141/149 and 149/157.

If I were them, and thankfully for them I'm not, I'd now wait until the fall to commit. See how much they grow in the offseason. Remove that risk from the decision.

That is, unless the Bassett announcement turns them away from Iowa.

The Raneys with Munaretto heading to Illinois with Stewart would be solid.

I figured that 133 would be hard for one of them. But they will be a formidable duo for any college to have.

I know they train at Illinois RTC, but it would not surprise me to see them at tOSU with their interest in Greco. Haven’t kept up to much on tOSU recruiting but they could slot in once Mendez is done.

Davino is part of their interest in Ohio State.

Less excited about Stewart because he's also going football, and because he's short -- listed at 5' 7" -- shorter than Zain. That's an issue for him if he's a full-time wrestler, which he won't be.

But yeah, getting the twins + Munaretto would be big for them. With Illinois' youth/HS success, that state should be more than fodder for Iowa and Michigan, with the ACC schools picking the meat off the carcass.

I really like Tsarni for whoever gets him. He keeps making jumps and is really dynamic offensively.
