PSU @ Indiana Game Thread

Lucky this is a tie game. I can't believe that our 2nd and 3rd string O linemen can't hang with Inidana's starting D line!!!! And giving up the pass for 1st down almost every time?!? The D backs are horrible right now!!!

Notice the arm strength difference between the two quarterbacks. Indiana can throw deep and to the sidelines. When we do it we need either a totally blown coverage or win a jump ball. This is what we're giving up by going with Trace. We don't go to his strength often enough -- the short, intermediate throws. Is it his height that is a problem in throwing over the middle? We can do it when the defense totally bites on the run (as in the TD pass), but can we do it in a long drive. Haven't seen it that much. Receivers are way too deep.

This has been an issue all year (and last year too). When teams stack the line or send everyone on a blitz PSU can't handle it. Either it's Barkey up the middle for no gain or the QB running for his life because the receivers are still running 20+ yard patterns. Need quick slants, wheel routes etc to keep the D honest.

The better f'n adjust the offensive game plan and start making IU pay for all these blitzes this is amateur

Just once I'd like to see them adjust in the first half instead of waiting until halftime and giving 2 quarters away.

Moorhead needs to be fired if he is really this stupid as to try to keep running SB up the middle with a 2014 vintage PSU OL.

So in one week we go from worrying about Moorhead leaving for a head coaching job to firing him. Sometimes it's not the coaching (I know, hard for many on here to believe) sometimes it comes down to the players. It executing or playing with an OLine patched together with duct tape.

No way they're getting this much time and running lanes without holding.... Unreal
Our problem is this now makeshift offensive line is not working. It might be time to get Fries in @ tackle so Bates can go back to guard and Dowrey is out of the game. Man, injuries and typical road laxness are hurting this team. Play calling on O & D is suspect in 1st half. Indiana is bringing 8 players, so we are back to using the slow hand-off and low percentage throws downfield, both of which require blocking that is not available with the OL injuries. On D, the drop back zone on these 3 and longs are killing us. The Indiana QB has thrown 13 INTs this year and we're playing off? Not smart.

If we can't run in the A and B gaps because of run blitzes why cant we run sweeps? Why can't we throw quick outs on first down...they are giving us a 7 yd cushion? and I know Gonzalez is like 4th string...but my God...he is awful. Put a TE along side him if you need to do so....

Relax. I wasn't serious. It's a weekly game thread joke. I have to call for one of the coaches to be fired.

I'll say it again, Trace has run the ball once since his ankle got taped up. If he isn't a threat to run, and with the oline dinged up, Indiana can just stack the box and key on Barkley. We're one dimensional without the threat of the QB running the ball. They should give Stevens a shot.

Getting behind in this game would be ominous.
We are not winning this one today folks. Indiana is in their locker room and they just KNOW they have this one won. They gave us 4 fumbles and we got 7 points out of it! Thyey are tied and they get the ball to start the second half.

Simply put, Indiana is a better team than us today. Their offense is moving the ball when they aren't fumbling and their defense has us shut down. Neither of those two will change in the second half except I don't see then fumbling 4 times.

31-14 final - Indiana.

The OL has three new inexperienced faces. Don't expect a lot. Defense has to win this.

not sure we have that kind of defense. we have gotten respectable, but we don't have a DEF to hold Indiana = their OFF is too good. if we do not come up with an OFF adjustment then we are in trouble. this is NOT the PSU team that has played the last few weeks with all these injuries. The RPO run by RB is going to be neg yds every time it is called.

Umm not so fast my friend. IU isn't UM.

Stevens has a reason to be motivated.....

Lago has an arm like Hack. Maybe we should be able to figure out his vulnerabilities ...

We are in trouble! At this point let's try Bey at OT.

is he even on the team anymore? clearly we need some real OT's as moving everyone around is not helping. Do we have ANY OT on the roster who could just come in an plug the leak of losing Palmer? no idea what ever happened to Jenkins, but he was a 4* OT - and is a soph now. with our depth you would think he could help.

Exactly, there were times that we could have just thrown to the receiver on the line and had about a 5 yard gain.
Even better, do that once or twice and it sets up the deep ball.

Morhead look like genius because OL was playing fantastic last few games. It's so obvious his play calling is atrocious. Runs up middle and jump balls. That's almost ever plays this game.

What's baffling to me, and what I got totally wrong in predicting this game, is that we would see the incentive to play this game hard. Lose a game in the final 3 and we drop from Rose Bowl consideration to something like the Music City Bowl. So far, an unbelievably poor effort from both the players and coaches.

Trace has had several first down runs since his ankle got taped up

Indiana running the read option with Lagow is basically like Penn State running it with Hackenberg. He's a statue and isn't keeping it. Yet they consistently get positive yards on these plays.
