PSU stays at 9.....???

Last year we finished 5th, lost the Rose Bowl, and still finished in the top 10. A bowl loss this year could knock us out of the top 10.
only reason it matters is if it drives which bowl we wind up in. i am not sure these bowls are all equal for our best interest. from a playoff view i totally agree with you.
Only if it knocks us out of the NY6. I guess Miami is out of the Orange, that auto bid would seem to belong to tOSU.
Yeah, I mean, if you wanted to go to the Orange it matters. Glad we have 0 chance of playing Miami but that was pretty much always true.
We've been a 99% lock for the Cotton since Stanford beat ND.
It's difficult to climb in the polls when everyone else plays and you don't.... Unless you're Alabama or tOSU
Miami is in Orange Bowl as highest remaining ACC team. They will play Ohio State - highest remaining Big 10/SEC TEAM
There are a ton of imperfections with the system. PSU loses by 1 to OSU on the road and drops 5 spots. Wisc loses by 8 at neutral site and drops 2.
Wrong - Ohio St can’t go to the Orange bowl. Big ten champ can’t go, the highest ranked big ten team goes which is Wisconsin.
You are correct. I stand corrected. The Big10/SEC portion is a non champ. So that does lock Wisconsin.

If wisky kicks osu ass, if clemson kicks miami, if auburn whips georgia, if stanford whips usc, if ok whips tcu (thank the Lord tcu didn't upset ok or who the hell knows where we finish)... we are sitting at 6.
the chips most certainly did not fall for us with one exception... by kicking wsu fanny like they did, uw moves up and we get an interesting opponent.
Rarther be playing usc again but this ain't a bad ending... in tempe vs a pretty good football team.
