Random observations from Boise game….

-Really enjoyed the announcing crew. Wicheusan is solid and Riddick was on point in most/many of his observations. No screaming into the mic on big plays (que Gus Johnson). Fair announcing and analysis. Who’d of thought it was possible in 2024
-Refs got a holding call or two. That was nice. It should be noted that many of Boise’s penalties (false starts) were due to our Def fronts aggressiveness.
-really impressed with our backup TEs. #16 Dinkins is unheralded but very good. In a ton last night and Reynolds has been great.
-DDS personal foul on Jeanty was atrocious. Having said that I thought he played very well. Wouldn’t have had a problem if Franklin walked him over to Jeanty after the game to own up to it. On second thought, he should’ve done that on his own.
-BTN had good postgame coverage. Didn’t think it was possible.
-complaints about our soft zone coverage? You give something to get something. It held Jeanty in check and that was the objective.
-to the nat’l pundits complaining about our ‘easy’ path, I say we deserve it based the many slights from the past. This is just a start to make up for it. Thank you and we’ll move on
-Run defense on Jeanty was remiscient of teams from the 70s, 80s
-Great season, proud of the team!

I always watch the (away) games with the Penn State play by play. Download the nittany sports app, Bluetooth your phone to your soundbar, play the pbp from the app, and pause the radio call until the video feed catches up (audio always seems to be ahead).

Am I crazy, or did it seem like BSU had a lot of missed false starts. Seems like the tackles were continually moving before the snap.

I also heard the announcers mention at one point that James was complaining about the Boise defense yelling out our cadence or something along those lines. They even suggested he might get penalized for it, but then nothing more was said after that.

Wasn't very impressed with the E-SPiN announcers' sole focus on hyping Jeantry and BSU's "running attack" ignoring the fact that PSU's RBs put up 221 rushing yards on only 29 carries (Jeantry was 100% of BSU's rushing attack and only had 104 yards on 30 carries) - weird how I didn't hear a word about this in E-SPiN's ever insightful analysis (i.e., PSU's rushing attack smoking BSU's) despite it being a huge factor in the game and what opened up the downfield passing game.

Again, this never happened. When Boise State had the ball they talked about their star player and how we were containing him--which is what they should have talked about

I want to echo your sentiments about the announcing team. Professional, great analysis by Riddick, like you said no screaming into the microphone as Wisheusen just calls the game and lets it speak for itself and allowing Riddick to provide insight. Glad they were given this CFP game. Hopefully ESPN gives them more work for big games in 2025.

Allar was also indicating to the refs several times what Boise was doing during the 1st half. Perhaps the refs spoke with the Boise coaches because it didn't seem to be an issue in the 2nd half.
