Did he say 78 mile bike ride and then 13 mile run with Cael??

Yup! Great interview. It sounds like he and Gilman really go after it. It is hard to overestimate how beneficial it is for Roman to have a consistent workout partner like Gilman. Just being able to experience Thomas' hand fighting and solid positioning/defense on a regular basis will surely (and already has) pay dividends for Roman. Thomas is the gift that keeps on giving. His coming to NLWC has worked out so well for everyone. As far as Roman, I am even more excited to watch him this year after listening to this interview. I think we will see a more free and pace-driven Roman this year, which should be terrifying for his opponents. I think if Roman can push his pace for a solid seven minutes or more he is going to break a lot of wrestlers this year.

Fun interview! 2 things struck me; one positive one "negative."

The positive -- pretty remarkable to hear RBY say that his cardio is now significantly better than ever before. Got me thinking that I don't recall ever seeing him winded/gassed. Bad news for Fix et al. if RBY has even more in the tank to work with this season.

The negative (from my own selfish standpoint) -- as several posters here have previously surmised, RBY seems to confirm that it is unlikely we'll see much of him in competition the first half of the season. I'd love to see him in every dual and tourney for maximum personal enjoyment his last season.

I know selfishly we want to see RBY as much as possible but when you consider he didn't even plan to return at first ... this might be necessary and I'm sure was one of his conditions for returning. We will never know the extent of it but he really was not in good shape last year. Very banged up and found a way to win every match. Best way to prevent burnout and heal up from injuries is to take a break sometimes, RBY obviously isn't going to forget how to wrestle and he's way too competitive (and knows it's not ideal for his brand) to take a major step back.

Don't forget before 2021 ... RBY seemingly was more focused on MMA, he was training at Gracie and doing footwork stuff with Dom Cruz, took a wrestling match with Aljamain Sterling ... then came back that season looking better than ever.
