Football Drew Allar set to return to Penn State in 2025

Could you repeat that last line, one ... more ... time!
Anything to erase the fact that he was so certain that Allar would not return. Told us stupid masses again and again. As if he had inside sources or some other way to know this absolutely.

I'd say that @LandoComando has lost some serious credibility on this one.

But did he ever have credibility?

Kids make bad decisions sometimes. If that hurts my credibility so be it. We'll see if he changes his mind the next few weeks.

If Allar was rated as a 2nd round or lower draft pick this year, then returning and playing himself into the 1st round next year makes all the financial sense in the world, especially with NIL and income loss insurance purchased in case of career threatening injury.

He himself obviously doesn't feel that he's NFL ready now, and I have to believe that his family and he consulted with NFL executives who probably told them that he's not NFL ready now.

The NFL is notable for destroying college football QB talent. If Allar is not literally 100% confident, there is a chance it will eat him too. My feeling is that he's playing a long game. Good for him.

Here are my unsolicited thoughts:
#1 - I am happy for me.
#2 - Get on phone right now for 2 WRs with 1 year of eligibility left and get them in for a visit.
#3 - A couple more players on Defense and we should be good to go for 2025. Need 1 or 2 DTS.....hoping that Ford can play in the playoffs and next year at DT.
#4 - Nice to have perhaps the best QB in college football starting for us in State College with a second year under the same OC.
Wasn't FORD classified "long term injury" by CJF? Coded speech for done for the season.

Wonderful news and a win-win for both Allar and Penn State. Drew would not have been a 1st-round pick this year. Next year? Hopefully a different story.

Sorry we lose Beau in the deal. If making the call before the playoff game was the better choice for him personally, given his options, it's hard to blame him. It's clear as a bell that his decision was dictated by knowledge of Drew's plan to return.

Seriously, the name of the game now is look-out-for-Number-One. Coaches too, to include Franklin...check the record. Drew. Beau. Everybody. Nobody's falling on his sword for the honor and glory of universities whose top priority is money.

Does this mean that Coach AK committed to staying at least one more year? I know he turned down the WVU job (at least based on reports I read). However, other offers could crop up after the championship run. I can't imagine Allar would make this decision without that commitment from AK. So that's good news for us on two major fronts. Allar and AK will be here for the 2025 season!

We will not replace Warren, he's not only a great TE, but super athletic and versatile like no one else. We have many great options at TE and we'll be fine, just not at Warren's level. AK's strength as an OC is playing to the strength of his players. He will find another player (beyond Allar) that adds the wrinkles and headaches for opposing DC's :)

I never said there weren't multiple ways to create matchups. However, you said "I don't care about the matchups."
Lol I didn't mean all matchups, just the pretend ones when Drew is split out wide or on the sidelines. I understand the short yardage and goal line situations when we're actually trying to gain an advantage like having an extra blocker. It's when we just gained 40 yards in 5 plays and then we suddenly split Drew out wide as though we need to mix things up. That's not creating matchups. That's throwing off our offense that was just rolling along, all because we need to appease our backup QB who might leave at the end of the year.

I feel like the RB group will be fine. There’s a strong room with young men waiting for their opportunity.

You don’t replace Warren, but TE will again be a plus position.

QB will only improve. Question is whether backup QB will be as strong. Beau was awesome at Wisconsin. Had a great couple of runs vs Oregon in big situations, was on the field a lot all season, and could be counted on to lead the team to victory if needed.

Yeah, except top 10 rookie contracts are 30-40mil. About 2x as much as mid to late first rounders.
Sure. I guess weigh that big rookie deal likely with a terrible team vs a decent team (mid to late 1st round) that just needs a new qb. I would argue that a qb is much more set for success picked by a good team. And more likely to be around for the big second deal.

We can collectively list 30 decent QB prospects who didn't make it in the NFL. As you note, some of it is luck of the draw. Daniel Jones and Mac Jones to speak of recently. Go back to Joey Harrington, Heath Schuler, Ryan Leaf.................. The window only opens an inch, and they have to make the best of it. Not easy.

Danny Dimes got paid--very worth it
Do you believe going back to school would have helped any of them?

You will never know. All we know is that they didn't make it.

The long game. People way smarter than you play it.

I don't agree with the first or early second round projections for Allar. Yes, he has the physical tools, but he has not performed well against our toughest opponents. Actually, the whole team and the coaches under performed along with Allar, so I don't blame just him. Still the pro scouts haven't seen him win a big game - yet.

We completely disagree--any scout that watches him against Oregon is pushing him to go in the top 10
Imagine not having a decent WR and having the success he is--watch the throw in the 4th quarter with a defender on him
He was great against USC and Oregon--he was almost perfect against Wisconsin--against Ohio State he was fine. Wallace dropped a TD which was his only pick.
