RBY

He just won his third state title tonight. Two pins and two majors. Has trouble with clingy dudes who are trying to keep the score low. Probably the most dominant wrestlers of the tourney were Brandon Konecny of Corona Del Sol (Team Champs) and Brandon Courtney (Desert Edge)...of the Arizona Courtneys. Courtney pinned his dude in the finals in :14. Those three are probably our best D-1 prospects. For those going to Ironman next year, Sunnyside (RBY's school) might be headed there. They should have a decent squad there...at least for Arizona.

Meanwhile, back to the topic at hand. Thanks for the great first hand knowledge of one of our recruits from a friend from another board.

As for the rest, no thanks on the "fake news".

To preface this, I'm not a Hawkeye fan. I grew up in Ames and was a big ISU fan until Cael left and Jackson ran the program into the ground. Now I spend more time on PSU boards that ISU. I worked at the University of Iowa for years and now work across the street from Coe. My son has practiced in both the Coe room and Carver Hawkeye.

Coe is a small liberal arts college 30mins from Iowa City. It makes zero sense that a small liberal arts college, with its own wrestling team, and limited budget, would somehow have the money or the desire to scheme with Tom Brands so he can get a top wrestling recruit. Yes, Spencer's dad got a good VP job at Coe. Fortunate timing for him and the family. But to suggest this is some nefarious
scheme by the Hawkeyes to pay Spencer seems like quite the stretch. This is one conspiracy theory that you guys should probably let go.
It's spyker. He's a nut job. Until I ventured onto this board, I thought he had been banned.

Yes. As i told Larry i wish him the best of luck....Hey i was just stating what others in the know were discussing. I don't have a horse in this race....lol...I will take Nick S. all day...Hope to see everyone in Stillwater this weekend !!!! LETS GO STATE....
you are one of the creepiest dudes on the entire internet. no chance in hell you are anywhere near Stillwater this weekend.

Follow the correlation here. Larry Lee went from working at Microsoft (CMU) to a small startup (Coe) because he can and he's obviously very invested in his son's career. Why do you care?

Spyker is a little crazy and the conspiracy theory is bonkers, but that is a terrible correlation. CMU is one of the elite national universities and Coe is a long-established, middling-ranked liberal arts college. You go to a startup to get the chance to get in on the ground floor of a company that will grow and succeed. Small liberal arts colleges today, unless they have very large endowments, are teetering on the edge of extinction, sad as that is to say.

Facts are important. Coe's endowment is ranked 473 and is falling. CMU's rank is 55 and rising. For perspective, my alma mater's endowment is ranked 267 and rapidly rising. And my alma mater has serious concerns about its financial future and is taking steps to address them (hence the rapid rise in the endowment). Coe's future could be in serious doubt, whereas CMU's is very, very strong. So, again, a terrible correlation.

It's more like he left a strong national corporation to join a struggling single retail store chain in Iowa. I'm not going to judge him but it's not like you portray it.

This thread has been tainted beyond repair, and should be deleted. Way to go, Spykeboy!

Chief nailed it imo. RBY is very stingy and very steady. I think he will be a very tough college wrestler and will be a 4 time AA type guy. Great recruit. Gavin is way more fun to watch wrestle imo as he has a little more go for broke mentality. Who on earth wouldn't want either one? I think RBY will be a 141 eventually at PSU and Gavin will be 133 at Iowa. Two pretty special wrestlers.
Don't count Gavin being at Iowa....Unless they are in the process of hooking up the parents....lmao

I've heard that a certain Iowa wrestling benefactor has given the HWC Slush fund a small loan of $1,000,000. I'm positive that Tom will allocate the amount he sees to fit to keep Teasdale's parents happy and retain his commitment.

Spyker, I for one hope you are here this weekend. Wear a shirt with "Spyker" screened on it so I can find you. I bet you are a hoot to talk to in person. Normally, I would tell you where I was sitting, but since they didn't allow season ticket holders to get their seats, I can't tell you. Ya'll will have a good time here. I hope a bunch come, and it is an atmosphere like the old days in Gallagher.

Sorry to derail the thread more...

I am so surprised no body from the Ok St board has commented on this or someone from here taking it there to filter it out. I guess all the interweb spooks are working the Russia lead at the moment.

Don't hold your breath waiting for spyker to show up CowboyUp61.

I won't. I just hope there is a big crowd of people cheering both teams. And, I still hold out (slim) hopes of winning the dual. I bought a hundred tickets and gave them to our kids club so they can see what big-time wrestling is all about.
You the man CowboyUp61!!!! The kids will love it. Maybe we can cull out the next Bo Nickel as well to move to State College in 10 years also. ;) I'm still debating making the 6 hour drive up I35 from Austin to attend. Saw that tickets were all GA on StubHub for $33. Here's to a fun and injury free dual. Was hoping Willie was going to have a Flo watching party here at Flo headquarters

Awesome that you are bringing 100 kids. Talk about a way to GROW wrestling. It's at OK State so I expect a good crowd and a competitive match. On paper the team score should not be close (however it is a dual and things can and do happen) but I expect a bunch of very competitive matches. A good preview of is to come in St. Louis.

Maybe this is why Spyker was so adamant that Spencer Lee sit out his entire junior year regardless of the monitoring and advice of the Steelers team physician who performed the surgery?

StubHub is making a profit! Call the ticket office and use promo code NWCA and they are $5 each.

I wish it was 100 kids. Have 55 kids, and gave them an extra for parental supervision. I am not going to try to wrangle them all-have enough trouble with my two! :) But you are correct, expecting 9 good matchups for them to learn from.

What a great gesture Cowboy, kudos!

You sir are a REAL promoter of the sport. If you see Mike Tognetti make sure to remind him we expect the picture of John Smith in a PSU shirt to surface at Nationals per last year's bet.

Now Smith has to wear the shirt instead of Mike? That is called charging interest plus late-payment fee! ;)

Thanks for the free recruiting for us. Ha. Jokes aside, that's awesome. Way to grow the sport.

Anyone have scores from Nicos TFr year to compare scoring? I think it would be an entertaining thread to take a look W-L, who they wrestled, scoring, tourney placing, etc of our TFr Nico, Zain, Morgan, etc along w/ Suriano, hall as we enter the post season.

Just place markers for past, current and possible future success TFr (N. Lee).

Whoever does the work earns a few adult bevs down the line for sure.

You ****ing serious dude? I was giving Spyker the crayon version in the 90 seconds I take to post occasionally. It appears you have a bit more time on your hands (probably could find better things to do than try to school me). Of course, your missive left out the part where NBA coach Bill Fitch attended Coe as well as coached there. About all you left out though. Nice work.

...don't be too hard on Spyker...
...he's suffering jet lag from his return from Iran early this morning, then he had to officiate at the start of THON at 6 PM and finally make arrangements to sponsor 101 kids for the match in Stillwater on Sunday...
... he should be there on time, though, cause I hear on good authority that he's reserved a Concorde for the flight.. :)

Has anyone seen Spyker and Brian Williams in the same place together?
