PSU 31-30 at the half.
Maryland went up by 8 after the half but PSU came back to take the lead by 1 point with 9 straight. Only way Maryland is in the game is because of 14 first half points from the foul line. PSU had 0

Maryland goes up by 5 with a 3 from about 27' with 34 sec left
Maryland 66=59 18-23 from the line for Maryland. I think that PSU shot no more than 5 ft

Playing at a very high level. Stellar defense, very good ball movement, decent shot selection. Reeves is playing fantastic

Very good first half for PSU. A lot of ticky tack foul calls in last few minutes. If Watkins and Stevens stay out of foul trouble, PSU can win this. Not sold on Turgeon. Don’t really know MD’s identity on either end.

6 guys with 2 fouls and one with 3. That could become an issue. Really need Josh/Lamar/Mike to stay on the floor.

Last year, we shot 2 FTs at UMD... UMD shot 34.

Being called for any and everything against UMD is nothing new

Overall solid effort by psu. Reaves missed three open shots down the stretch and Stevens missed a chippy also. Tough loss, but at least we gave ourselves a chance.

2 point game with 35 second left... they drain a contested 3 from 6 feet past the line as the shot clock expires. Close game, on to Indiana on Tuesday

This game they called more fouls against PSU in the first half than they did against MD the whole game. Not sure how that happens.

You sound like one of the guys who yells to “even out the fouls” at the refs from the stands.

I’ve coached and officiated way more basketball than you’ve ever even watched, but nice try. Did you watch the game? Both teams played similar styles of defense and offense....because of that it’s almost impossible to have that kind of discrepancy without some home cooking.

This was a winnable game. Still too many mistakes.

I think we were lucky to be that close. Reaves had 17 unexpected pts at half but none in the second half. PSU was out rebounded 40-28 and outscored at the FT line 18-4.

PSU played great. Just nobody to match up with Fernando or Smith. Still had a chance until MD hit the long 3 with time running down.

It happens because we had nobody to match up with MD's big men. Fernando & Smith teamed up for 21 rebounds. Watkins and Harrar combined for 4.

That had little to do with the fouls...many that were called out near the top of the key and also on illegal screens....which both teams were doing. 9 of Maryland’s last 11 points in the first half were foul shots mostly due to double bonus, not shooting fouls. We lost the game because we went cold in spots and shot too many threes, but 16 fouls on one team in the first half is a bit ridiculous especially when the other team only had 14 the entire game. To get to 16 fouls in one half many of them have to be ticky tack unless the team is intentionally fouling to stop the clock and this happened in the first half.

Fernando had 13 rebounds and made 8 FTs. He wasn't getting fouled at the arc. Watkins had 4 fouls, Butrick had 3 fouls, and Harrar had 3 fouls. A lot of fouls on our guards came when they helped out.

PSU takes that many threes because those are the shots that are available. Stevens gets double teamed and we don't have enough other scorers. Look where Dread, Jones, etc. take their shots. Wheeler doesn't look to score.

So in two games at Maryland the foul shot difference is 59 to 10....yeah, no home cooking there. Stevens makes a living getting to the foul line, but took one foul shot tonight. Reaves drove to the basket numerous times and didn’t get one foul shot. Every starter on their team got to the line. That’s doesn’t happen without a little help.
