Rokfin 2022 projections... Oh NO Iowa!!!

Already looking forward to the Starocci match. Kennedy always throws everything he has at you. Should be entertainging.

I have heard some suggest Bull might be better off at 174 and Kennedy 165 if Kemerer moves on. Also, Assad vs Brands could be interesting. Assad probably just inherently has a higher ceiling than Nelson at 184 since he's actually a full sized 184.

Willie is super high on Dustin Plott. Had him 3rd. I'd buy it also, kid certainly is talented if his shoulder is 100% recovered.
I'm high on Plott talent-wise, but he's now had 2 straight years of bad injuries (might even be the same one?), so I'm pretty concerned going forward.

Listen to yesterday's Flo podcast. Outstanding segment on ACL injuries and wrestling. Pretty convincing surgery is not needed.

Maybe not, but wrestling for years after with none will result in some lifelong complications. He’ll be a 45 year old man at future NCAAs (coaching for Iowa, there as Iowa AD, just spectating) and be walking like a 70 year old.

True. Or he'll get a knee replacement at a relatively young age. Joint-replacement surgery has come a long way.

Yeah - I’ve run into a lot of older people on hiking trails who are giddy talking about their new knees. Man, if only we could get cardiovascular replacements in old age

I am putting off a knee replacement myself until the pain gets to be too much. Its getting closer every day. Indoor soccer a year ago last winter was the final straw - moron. My brain is still 20 years behind my body, may of you might say 50.

I got a torn Meniscus playing baseball in college. The Doc took a lose peice out that was causing it to lock up while in a full sprint. He said I'll see you again in 25 years for a knee replacement once arthritis sets in.

I am in denial and avoidance concerned about the very lengthy rehab. Just heard about Nanoknee but I think it's a lot of marketing hype and has significant out of pocket $$$.

Anyone have one yet and can talk me of the ledge?

Absolutely true. I spent a few years without an ACL on my left knee and I'm now bone on bone. At 49 I wake up feeling OK in the morning, but by noon I can barely lift the left leg. Cortisone shots help briefly.

They may have come a long way, but there is still a long way to go. Dr. Hart here where I live has told me to wait as long as possible because the knee replacements won't last.
It's in my future though.

I’ve had both hips replaced and been pain free for almost a decade. Had my first one done when I was in my early 50s. Huge improvement. Wish I had replaced it sooner.

My understanding is that knee replacements are a bit more complicated than hips, and everyone’s situation is a little different, but if you’re bone on bone, I’d consider consulting with another doc.

Just had my knee replaced last year and it's better but I still have to work with it... expect it to be perfect. I sprained my right ankle when I was 18 playing soccer. Often, in my runs since then, I would roll it. Finally got it looked at when I 'sprained' it during the winter months a few years later and was told I had broken it right above where I broke it when I was 18. BS juvenile thinking regarding rehab, etc., left me favoring it without knowing for the next 25 years as I 'ran' a lot - 10k's marathons, and morning hangover cleanses :)... Turn 50 and the favoritism wore the left knee out.. as well as the right ankle where I opted to get it fused. But... knee replacement these days will last many years - 30+. They have really improved all facets

Interesting. He does have massive legs, so that explains how his muscles can really help compensate.

Yeah apparently really strong quads and hanstrings are the key, as they provide the stability lost without the ligament. Crazy that wrestlers can lose their ACL, hardly notice, and continue competing without interruption.

The other interesting piece being; despite what one would intuatively think, that wrestling tests every angle and stress situation for a knee joint, the loads are nowhere near what is seen in other sports running, basketball or playing football. An ACL injury in those sports are competition ending immediately, and surgery a must to return.
