Judging by the comments, I say it's 50/50 at best. ;)

This is the same AD who was caught on video downing a beer with underage students at the university sponsored tailgate that has since been cancelled...he'll probably be at the game Face painted spewing profanities and Sandusky jokes at the PSU players in a drunken stupor

At least they recognize how bad they are and are making some effort, however you are what your record says you are and RU's record is pretty bad both on and off the field.

Hobbs and Screwface together at the coin toss?!?! How to tell them apart? Hobbs has the better haircut.

These types of letters from AD's seldom accomplish much. I think the impact would be far greater if the letter was signed by the senior Rutgers football players, or the team captains, or the coach.

I agree with this. Coaches, captains or seniors telling fans to be welcoming to PSU fans but vocal to the team during the game would do a lot more good than a letter from the AD. Of course, they'd have to explain that "vocal" should not involve yelling "F*** PENN STATE" at every opportunity.

I like how he pretends the 'F Penn St' chants only happened at that game 2 years ago..... when in reality it's been every game for the past 2 years (from what I hear).

Rutgers AD also added..."To all 25-30 fans planning on attending the game....PLAY NICE! And if you can't, screw it and sell your tickets to PSU people. At least we can make a few bucks before we get our doors blown in. Why they put this game on National TV...jeez!"

RU has a pathetic Athletic Department supported by the LCD of their institution. It's no wonder a large percentage (the majority?) of their alums don't have anything to do with athletics and wonder why it exists there. The Big Ten bailed out that sorry dump of an AD.

With apologies to the movie:

Malone: OK, pal, why the Rutgers gear? Why are you wearing that crap?

Ness: I'm the AD at Rutgers.

Malone: Alright. Just remember what we talked about now.

[Malone walks away]

Ness: Hey, wait a minute! What the hell kind of policemen you got in this god damn city? You just turned your back on a man wearing RU gear.

Malone: You're the Rutgers AD.

Ness: How do you know that? I just told you that.

Malone: Who would claim to be that who was not? Hmm?

I'm hoping for a pound of twenties to drop out of the sky and into my lap. Both have about the same probability. Good luck to anyone that's braving that cesspool.

Yeah, I can't imagine deciding of my own free will to sit in a warm pool of diarrhea. Just no reason to do that.

You couldn't pay me to take a road trip to Rutgers, or anywhere else, really. It's funny, for 20 years you represent your school in the stands, get out and see other places and pay the freight for the season tickets and the gear and the travel and all that goes along with it, (through a lot of bad years, mind you.) Then the same school screams from the rooftop that you're a problem...part of a culture that needs to re-focus its priorities and all this. Well, they got their wish.

Exactly. It's so JV that they do that when we play, it's such a little brother thing to do. But whatever, it's basically fine.

The fact that they do that against whomever they play? Lol. That is some obsession on a level few of their psychotic internet fans can match.

I think we too can reasonably boast one internet fan with various obsessions on that level.

Too funny. Excellent use of a quote from one of my favorite movies...deserves more than a like!

I don't think Rutgers knows their place in the Big Ten. Obviously, it's at the bottom with a terrible record and it's a bye week for every team. But other than that, it's not a league where you embarrass yourself to opposing fans. You are gracious in defeat or victory (if it ever happens at Rutgers). You are nice to opposing fans (they are supporting your economy) and you understand it's just a game. That's why PSU and Nebraska are great. Opposing fans love coming to these places.

I was at the PSU Rutgers game 2 years ago. It was def one of worst experiences I had at a opposing BIG school. I had F you and Sandusky references thrown at me every which way.

I'm planning to surround myself with a couple of thousand of US to their couple of hundred...then again I live amongst "them"and they really are all
Bark and no bite
