I was wondering what the smoke was with Sasso, it was brought up before but no one ever talked more about it.

This. The whole time the "rat" story smelled made up and instead he was in a bad part of town doing something he shouldn't have.

A rat! I did not hear that one. I remember reading that he confronted some people trying to steal his car.

I always heard the same. That he tried to stop his car from being carjacked. Also, if he was trying to buy some bud when he got shot who cares? If true it sucks because he was only a few months away from Ohio being legalized but no matter what happened he shouldn't have been shot and it is a horrible situation to have happened.

Yeah - they zapped about 80 seconds. Chael was on one of his rolls. Dude has less of a filter than even Charles Barkley
I listen to FRL on Apple Podcasts and I can still hear it on my archived show, but if I link it (which I just tried), the segment is gone. At exactly 16:44 below is where the cut happened - CP says “I don’t know, I wasn’t there” and Spey nervously laughs. With the cut, it just jumps from AJ talk to another topic. It’s pretty seamless as it makes it seem as if CP can’t be definitive about AJ.
In the uncut original, Chael just blurts it out and what follows is a lot of nervous laughter and another minute or so of Chael asking awkward questions about it (see my excerpt of the transcript - I’m sure that’s cut too)

I dislike chael and his big mouth he thinks an xtra hr of training will make army wrestling lead to national champs like they don't do enough already!

I can’t vouch for anything Sonnen says but I heard the same story from a wrestling insider who knows enough people that I would put a lot of weight into anything he says.
Sasso got shot, nearly died, was paralyzed for months, and his athletic career was effectively ended.
Apparently that's not enough, drag him thru mud 2 years later.

Clearly this struck a nerve with you.
But people discussing updated info about a very high profile incident in the wrestling community isn’t gratuitous or cruel. The board does that all the time (see Ferrari, AJ).
And if it turns out that Sasso was standing in the mud when he got shot 2 years ago, no one on this board dragged him there.
So here's the thing; that accusation does not appear in any published reports. No police reports, news articles, TV reports, court documents, nothing in 2 years.
All we have is one loudmouth who's often wrong but never in doubt, and some supposed "insiders" who aren't named and got their info from where, and had nothing to say over the past 2 years.
So it's questionable to say the least. But if true, why dredge it up now? What purpose does that serve?

And the things we say about Ferrari ... are we saying Sasso deserved it? Or Ferrari is a victim? Because otherwise it's not a great comparison.
Agreed. I don't see the point of dredging this up two years later. What does it matter? Sometimes just wish him well in his life and move on.
Serves flo right to have that blow hard shooting his mouth of on the show. He is a glory hunter trying to get his 15 min of fame since he’s washed up fighter. Course he’s stumping for iowa so they’ll love him till he decides he can get lots of clicks by bashing someone there.
True. I am sure Chael has access to inside info at times, however he gets things wrong constantly. He's an entertainer who you can never be sure what fraction of what he says is true & the rest is just there to get attention.
Whatever he was doing when he was shot doesn’t matter to me , if he was running over a rat, fighting off carjackers or buying some of that Zahid Valencia powder on a Friday night doesn’t change my opinion of sammy at all. think it’s terrible he got shot, glad the guys going to prison but that being said a lot of people supported Sammy and donated money and if it rly was a DD gone bad then I think the truth is pretty important. People gave up their hard earned money
He shouldn’t have said it on FRL like that but Chael didn’t pull this out of thin air , Joey Ward came out on twitter right when it happened and said the same thing , i personally heard it from a easton person around the same time …either way I think we can all agree he wasn’t turning down an alley in a bad part of town to run over a rat
