We have friends from Belarus who want to go to the Michigan St game with us. I was wondering how hard it is to find tickets outside the stadium for them, how much do they usually cost and do you often get fake tickets? Any info from experience is much appreciated. Would love for them to get a taste of our game day experience.

Depends on our record at the time. You are better off going on gosportsPSU ticket exchange (run by Ticketmaster) and see what seats are for sale now and you may be able to find seats near you. If we lose a few games (God forbid) prices will drop.

tickets are double right now on stub hub and I don't think they want to spend $100 per ticket.

There’s always plenty of tickets on game day. You’re crazy to pay premium prices via Stub Hub et al. Patience on game day is key too. The longer you wait them out the lower you’re going to pay.

My guess is that MSU ticket prices will remain high regardless of our record.. Don't forget that its the Homecoming game.

This game is tricky. For the last 25 years, the Michigan State game has always been the last game of the year, so trying to envision what kind of demand it might draw is tough because you can't really compare it to years past.

if we're 4-0 having just beaten Ohio State with a week off, and Sparty comes in 5-0 with Victories over Northwestern, Indiana, Arizona State, Central Michigan, and Utah State. This will be a top 5 matchup in a striped out Beaver Stadium, 3:30 kickoff, homecoming crowd, that will likely see ticket prices soar every bit as high as what we've grown accustomed to for Michigan or Ohio State. You'll wish you would have dropped 100 bucks back in June if both teams come in undefeated.

However, PSU drops the game to Ohio State, or god forbid Pitt, ... Sparty stumbles VS ASU or NW, and it rains? .... You'll get tickets for 40 bucks. The scalping scene for this matchup has way too many "what ifs" to feel confident around how much a ticket might cost day of game.

With the ability to print tickets online now, I would be worried that the physical tickets for sale outside the stadium would be void, especially ones sold by the “professional” scalpers.

In your second scenario 40 bucks is crazy. You’d get a great seat for 20 with the rain.

IMHO at worst it looks like two one loss teams. Combined with an October kickoff, revenge game and homecoming could be a tough ticket. If you don’t care about seat location there are always tickets to be had at a price.

We'll see. I've been at almost every home game for the last 20 years, and just within my family and circle of friends I've noticed a lot more people looking for tickets compared to looking to sell tickets. There's a lot of hype that's built over the past two seasons.

Beaver Stadium has sold more tickets in 2018 than they have since 2008. 2017 saw a 95% renewal rate, with 9,000 new season ticket holders and if I had to bet, I'd say the renewal rate stayed the same in 2018 with Penn State announcing that season tickets were sold out mid-April, and that there were 6300 NEW season ticket holders in 2018.

That's quite the turnover when you think about it. In just two years, there's around 15k NEW season ticket holders.

Re: Scalping Tickets -

Hopefully the toughest year for
extra tickets on game day in years.

Been going to games since the 70s, obviously much less in recent years, but still never went to a game with tix already in pocket. Guarantee you I spend way less than season tic holders and the plus is in most instances, you can pick where you want to sit so you get to enjoy the many vantage points of the Beav.

If your friends live in Tyrone scalp Day if the game
Since you friends are coming from Belarus which I assume is west of South Dakota I would secure tickets now.

They are working in eastern Pa right now and go to our church. Belarus is right next to Russia!!
Seems like PSU Dave is saying it is easy to get tickets on game day outside the stadium - is that correct Dave?
