Season predictions?

Shocking…never would have guessed it coming from you (eye roll).
Never mind the fact that I was spot on last year and the year before and the year before and so forth. Not only that but I nailed the reasons for improvement or regression.

Wisconsin - W (LB’s in pass coverage and secondary play will determine game)
Ball State - W
Auburn- W
Nova - W
Indiana - W
Iowa - W
Illinois- W
Ohio State - L
Maryland - W
Michigan - L
Rutgers - W
MSU - W
Losing to Michigan at home? I don't think so.

With my heart 12-0 or 11-1 with O$U loss.

With my head 9-3, Wisky, Iowa and O$U losses.

No NY6. Citrus or Outback or whatever the 4th place prize is.

8-4. Another ho hum year.

This seems to be an interesting season. I don't see an in between. Either we end up impressive as all get out (11-1) or frustratingly bad (6-6). It all comes down to staying healthy, gaining confidence early in the schedule, young unknown talent stepping up and most importantly Franklin not getting out-coached. Not clear what the secret sauce was/is that gathered the 2022 class but if 2021 looks like 2020 on the field let the speculation begin. Honestly I can see it going either way.

we won't lose to MeatChicken.

Senior QB with plenty to prove, group of talented WR's, TE's, RB's, and veteran OL.
DL has question marks, but LB's and secondary appear to be solid.
Special teams should be ok.
Wildcard is Yurcich's influence on Clifford and the offense.

10+ wins as this team battled back last year and that will carry over.

Can Clifford stop being a head case? I think he gets the twisties half the time. He looks uncomfortable and anxious out there, even as an upperclassman

I agree. The Wisconsin game is the hardest for me to predict, but with a new OC in a tough road opener, it’s hard to predict a W.
With a new OC it also makes it harder for Wisconsin to prepare. They can look at old tapes from where he coached, but due to personnel that may not be what they see.

I call BS…I looked back at all the prediction threads in 2018 and 2019 and you were nowhere to be found. It’s easy to say you predicted a season after the fact. And no way you would ever predict double digit wins for Franklin, but nice try.

Except that I did, three times. 16, 17 and 19.

Wisconsin-L, there will be a call out of nowhere, e.g., too many players at the coin flip resulting in 3 points or a replay was inconclusive so Barry says the Badgers get a fourth down do over = the difference in the game.
Ball State - L, still reeling and Ball State has everyone back
Auburn- W, rally
Nova - W
Indiana - W
Iowa - L
Illinois- W, very close, they stocked up on crimin...I mean student-athletes in the offseason.
Ohio State - L, we are lucky to be playing can be heard on the field multiple times
Maryland- W
Michigan-W, proving once again Michigan sucks
Rutgers- W, close, its their Super Bowl!
Msu -W
Bowl - L, all the NFL eligible players sit out

8-5, some hope for the future and joining the ACC

All on the QB play!
Last year QB play = 7-5
Much Improved QB play = 10-2, 11-1

I think this team will be one of those "better than their record, tough out" kind of teams. I think we drop a frustrating one at Wisconsin to open the season + losses at OSU & Iowa + a random loss in there against Michigan/Auburn/Indiana. I think all losses will be close ones, setting up some higher expectations for '22. With the uncertainty at QB with a new coordinator and some concerns on defense (DE, S, MLB), my expectations were never BIG champ and CFP to begin with. 9-4 with a bowl win, and optimism that the roster the following year will be ready to make a run for the BIG title.

Anyone hear anything about Adisa Isaac btw? Been seeing some pictures of him in a walking boot, which would be a devastating blow to a group that already feels thin on experience.

That's a very fair perspective.

No sense worrying about 2022 until we see how 2021 transpires, but I actually think 2021 is a better shot at a run -- if the QB position comes around, that is. A freshman QB in 2022 -- and some key losses from the likes of Dotson, Walker, LBs, Brisker, etc. -- will be tough. Plus, while the 2022 class looks solid, it's always hard to expect a class to make a big impact right away. The 2020 and 2021 classes will be the backbone of that 2022 team, and those weren't our most talented classes. But again.......no telling this early. The 2022 schedule is definitely easier, it seems.

Losing Isaac would be rough.
