I'm pushing 6'3 and feel like the back rest might be too inhibiting, however without knowing the size of the people around you it's really hard to tell what would be best... but figured I'd ask the board to get your opinions. Which is better?

We need chair backs. I want the seat I paid for without the people in my row or in front or behind me invading my space.
I just stick my knees into their backs the entire game. They eventually get the idea and slide forward a little. Nothing more annoying than the person in front of you thinking they can put their butt into your lap.

I had a couple use the premium seat backs as recliners, reclining into my lap. I had to kindly point out to them that they weren't intended to be used that way. They got the point.

Trying the premium this season ... I will report back. Being 6'3" and around 240 means I need all the space I can get and hate when others impinge on my limited amount.

The major reason I'm getting the seat back is because the people around me have them... When your neighbors have them, and you don't, your space tends to be even further limited... I'll go with the MVP's... now that I think about it the people in front of me with the chair backs take up everyone's space, I don't wanna be "That guy".

Understood. Beaver Stadium isn’t the best place to expect others to respect your space.

In front or behind ... generally a core strength issue unless you are very tall. Just sit up straight.

Beaver Stadium allows what 24 inches a designated seat area on the bench? That can be a problem ....

From the press release in 2017 regarding the "master plan"

"Beaver Stadium is about our fans," Barbour added. "Gene Smith from Ohio State already said it: the capacity race is already over. It's about the fan experience. Our treads right now are 24 inches, and the standard today is 33. Even if we were to go all bench, which we're not, we're talking about reducing capacities, because we want to take those and make them a little bit more comfortable for our fans."

That is good news. But they also need to fix the front / back space issues. We all love our stadium but the fan experience gets worse every year. I went to the WVU - OK game this past fall. WVU had much greater tread space and front/back room for the fans. No knees in the back or competition for the butt space. Bench seats. Comfortable and spacious.

I hate both of them and being 6'3 myself I absolutely hate when the person in front of me has one of those with a back. I have zero leg room.

Agree. one of the renovations I'd like to see them make is more room between rows.

BBrown ... where do your knees go when there is no premium seat in front of you?

I totally get your discomfort. The gentleman behind us has a bad knee, we position our 12 YO to give him extra room. He puts his leg on the bench next to our son. We do it out of kindness but we should not have to do that.

I took the time the other day to count all the football stadiums I had ever been in, both college and pro. It totalled 37.
Forgetting about access, the parking, the rest rooms, the food, and the atmosphere, all very important, but focusing only on the seating experience, Beaver Stadium was the 3rd worst I can recall. Only Pitt Stadium and Syracuse's Archbold were worse. They are both now demolished. Beaver Stadium is an awful place to sit for 4 hours. I've sat in at least 10 different sections, on both sides and in both end zones, and never found comfort. Fix it Sandy!

I’m usually able to put one knee on either side of the person in front of me but with a chair back I can’t do that as easily.
That’s very nice of you and I bet the guy behind you is very appreciative.

If you think about it, Beaver Stadium is probably still configured to fit the average size spectator dating back to 1936, when New Beaver Field went from wood to steel. When New Beaver Field was transformed into Beaver Stadium, I'm pretty sure those 700 steel pieces were cut up and reconstructed a bit higher, but in roughly in the same shape. It's no wonder we're all sitting in each other's laps with knees and elbows and casts all up in each other's blue and white business.

When the Beav is sold out.. meaning every ticket is used, whiteout with good weather, etc... You simply cannot move, especially at times when others might be trying to move as well. Any sort of emergency, or mass exodus where people were panicked would turn ugly real quick... especially with the steel fencing that splits most sections. For Ohio State last season I was in the rafters, (EGU Row 85) and it took 50 minutes to get to the mid level concourse after the 4th and 5 debacle.

There's a big difference between 110k and 107k.
