So Missouri with former Clemson QB Kelley Bryant loses to Wyoming, South Carolina drops a game against the mighty Tarheels, and Tennessee craps the bed against Georgia State, a team that won 2 games last year. What kind of excuses will ESPiN make for these team’s poor performances?

No excuses necessary. Theylet bama’s and to a lesser extent Georgia’s successes prop up the entire conference.

Love the quote from the Auburn RB:
"Nobody wanted to lose to Oregon. We feel like that's a bad reputation on them. What are they, ACC? Pac-12? I didn't even know what they were. A Pac-12 team coming in and beating an SEC team, we can't take that."

In his defense, I suppose he didn't know that the conference had lost games to C-USA, Sun Belt, and AAC already. I guess none of those are from the Pac-12 or ACC (although I vaguely remember an ACC team smashing the SECs best team not too long ago).

I'd cut the Vols some slack. Georgia State football has a long rich tradition which dates all the way back to 2010.

This shows what a brilliant marketing job the Sec has done and what a poor job the Big Ten has done with the UM OSU favoritism.

Agreed. The SEC at some point made the decision to make everything about the conference. As a result all of their schools get the benefit of the doubt even when most of its teams stink. The SEC is so good that all the teams just beat up on each other. That's why so and so lost. When Bama beats Ole Miss or Vandy it is considered a good win. On the flip side when one of the favorites lose its not portrayed as a bad loss, but instead a great win by the underdog. Johnny Manziel won the flipping Heisman Trophy on a pretty mediocre team primarily on the back of a win over Bama. Rinse and repeat.

The B1G on the other hand continues to make everything all about 2 schools. They are elite and everyone else is whatever. When OSU wins its because THEY are that good regardless of who they play or what conference they are in. As a result when Purdue or Iowa blow their doors off it is seen a a bad loss for the favorite as opposed to a great win for the underdog. Its all about where does OSU go from here on BTN as opposed to hyping up a new school that might possibly be on the rise. This provincial small minded mentality all but guarantees that The B1G stays at #2 or worse in the perception battle with other conferences regardless of how good its teams may actually be.

Yes, well said.

To me the biggest feature is no matter who is winning, the conference supportd them.

Auburn? Sure we will aid them any way we can.

In the BIG they will work to make sure OSU or UM take down an iowa or psu to maintain the status.
