I don't follow freestyle as closely as folk outside of the big events but there are a number of names on there I didn't know were even still wrestling, not to mention being in the top 10 at their weight

I know Stieber won his World medal down a weight at 61k but I find it very interesting that Zain is ranked ahead of Stieber. Does not really matter as it will be decided on the mat just wondering the criteria used to determine the rankings. I am looking forward to that match. Zain looks much bigger than Stieber did at the World Cup.

In all seriousness (bc I do not know)... how does a wrestler compete “unattached”? (PD3) They would need to be training and isn’t the tem they train with their “club”?

I have never taken these types of rankings seriously because they basically don't wrestle each other enough to warrant rankings. The only time you're pretty much guaranteed to see all of the Top 10 are at the US Open or Trials. Outside of that, you might 3-4 per weight at a tournament, but the results never seemed conclusive enough to me to need or create rankings.

Interesting how the towns are listed. Frank is no longer in SC, David Taylor is listed as SC, where he does live, and Bo is still listed as Allen TX, even though I believe his parents moved to KY. So it seems like a mix of HS, current, and past residences.

Zain won the World Team spot for the US last year at 65KG so it makes sense that he is ranked #1. Steiber is going up in weight and hasn't wrestled very well since winning Worlds, though he did have a couple of good matches at the recent World Cup and one rather terrible one.

The interview I heard with Gabe, where he said he was not going to compete anymore, was about 3 months ago. I think it was Inside Trip. Their ep 50 is an interview with Gabe, so it must have been that one. He was going to focus on coaching and was looking forward to working with his brother.

Thanks. I'll listen to the interview when I get a chance. Gabe was interviewed at NCAA's during his brother's match vs Nickal. He was obviously pulling for his brother but spoke highly of Bo (unlike the fake text in the other thread today). I think he'll do well as a coach.

In a Flo article about Okie St US Open attendees it said that if Fix finished top 3 as a senior he could get a bye to finals of Junior tryouts. I'd guess that would be same for Stevenson.

1. Someone would have to want you in their club.
2. You would have to actually train.
