Serious parking question

i have a group of 5 cars with yellow parking passes for Pitt game. We want to be in the IM fields. Does anyone know if there is a line already formed around 6:30 am...or does anyone have any suggestions??

Lots open at 8 for Pitt. Don't know if people are in line that early though.

Cars can not line up that early because of blocking traffic, probably not until after 7:30. You won't get all five side by side unless other people are willing to switch spots with you after you park. Otherwise you will have three in front two behind or vise versa.

I'd recommend that if possible meeting for an early breakfast, perhaps at The Waffle Shop on N. Atherton, and driving to Lot #12 via Park Avenue together in a convoy as not to get separated.

We usually have at least 4 cars in our group. We all meet right off of Park Ave about a block before the lots...I think it's the business building maybe. Then when we are ready to head into the lot we can usually stay together cause cops are directing traffic so when they stop traffic on Park we can all get off the side street and back into the flow together. We have the first guy tell the person directing traffic "we have 4 cars in our group" and they always make sure we all get in line together. Works quite well actually.

You suggest parking on an open road for 2 hours, blocking traffic until the lots open at 8 as a solution and say nobody will bother you?

Park Avenue has no shoulder near entrance to lot 12 area if that is what you are suggesting. Also University Drive Extension no longer has gravel /shoulder.

i have been in line on orchard for many years with others hour before gate opening and on way in there were cars lined up on park.

Yes there is always cars lined up along the road near orchard because there is a shoulder to pull off and not block traffic. You cannot line up that early to get into 12 because you will be blocking traffic.
