Great job Tom. Note on 133, Iowa only has one wrestler at that weight

If you want to change C Dardanes to MN... then Go-pher it!

lol, you're making the right call ...

you have to root for guys you coached, even if they are wrestling against a PSU wrestler.

fortunately, you'll not be facing that situation for the next 4/5 years with 1 individual. ;)

Eblen DQ

Crazy tournament gets crazier, Eblen DQ'd for headbutting Brunson, loses all points

Re: lol, you're making the right call ...

Very true Tom. And Lorenzo just got beat bad by Dudley. Now I can root for Cutch

hope I see a video of that ... can't justify that ...

head buttiing will earn a DQ from youth all the way thru college, so it's not as though he shouldn't have been aware of it.

Thanks for all your great posts. Especially appreciate posting Mats ahead.

It's fun to read your posts Tom, because you know the sport, are passionate about PSU and have a gift for concise summaries.

As mentioned, your posts that mention the upcoming Mats for PSU wrestlers are also helpful.

Your inputs are all much appreciated.

Yes... A member of the committee spoke with the TV reporter and confirmed there was an error.

It was a scoring error and Miller should have been awarded the escape point, which would have won the match.

However, the committee ruling was that there is a procedure in place to deal with that situation, via a coach's challenge.

They ruled, since there was a procedure and it was not used by the coach, the match stands, with the Cornell wrestler getting the win.
Kent State's Miller was hosed twice. Once on the mat by the
refs (& his coaches) and then by the rules committee who had the
language in their favor to make it right for the kid, but as usual the
NCAA cares not for the kid.

again, to clarify ...

Miller was not hosed by the refs. The refs signal points, but it is the table that keeps the score. If they are confused by the signals they can request a clarification by the refs. It appears that this did not happen, so the refs did nothing to Miller.

The coaches can challenge the score, provided they do so during the match in a timely manner. If they do so, this would also involve the refs discussing thing with the table. It appears that the Kent State coaches did not do this within acceptable parameters, so again the refs did not do anything to Miller.

To-may-toe, To-mah-toe. Someone screwed up royally and it wasn't Miller. Fine, the table screwed up. His coaches missed it too. The point is, there was a mistake made and the language (which ESPN plastered all over the screen) was there allowing them to fix AN OBVIOUS MISTAKE and they didn't. It's not like it was a judgement call. It's not like they would have been hurting the Cornell kid...he really didn't win...he got a gift. This is worse than Churella-Hendricks...at least that was a judgement.

Re: yes. what I expected.

I agree that there was nothingthe NCAA could do after the fact but...

I used to scorer at high school matches and I think I would have noticed if I scored two takedowns in a row with nothing between them. I know things happen fast but disappointing at this level.

Of course the Kent kid should not have quit wrestlingbefore the match was over.

Furthermore,

it's not clear that the official even signaled the points. I'm not saying he did or didn't. He wasn't demonstrative about it if he did.

Bottom line, somebody phoqued up.

Hey, Bobo Brazil used the Cocoa Butt all the time & never got DQ'd**
