SIAP - Things that drive you crazy

I’ll toss in my experience from today - 3 lane highway I come up on a car in the far left lane a truck in the far right lane and a half mile of nothing in the middle lane. As I’m sitting behind this car and waiting for them to merge over to the middle lane I realize that they’re being a road hog and I will need to pass on the right. I complete the pass and return to the left lane and this person decides that my passing her somehow earned me the 1 finger salute out the window. Had I been tailgating or cut her off when returning to the left lane I could understand but I gave plenty of space and the act of passing was apparently too much of a blow to her ego.

Yeah, I think we did this recently, so sincere apologies. That said, I’ll start.

1-People who drive like azzholes in parking lots.

2-People who drive like azzholes.

3-Azzholes.

4-People.

Sorry, long day.

People who leave their shopping carts in the middle of the aisle as they go to graze the shelves. Its a matter of lack-of-self-awareness, and I'm sure it carries onto other aspects of their lives. I've a special non-confrontational way of handling it I'll leave to your imagination. Let's just say I leave a lasting impression.

Yep, Then there's the whip pass right before a red light. Love it!

People driving on two lane roads either straddling or on my side of the center line (usually double yellow) because they’re looking at their phone while driving.

If I see someone coming toward me looking at their phone instead of the road I lay on the horn as we pass. Scares the crap outta the.M. Deservedly so.

People who don’t stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. They believe that cars always have the right of way. Happens all the time in Ocean City as a family with two small children and all their beach gear is stranded in the middle of a busy intersection because tourists in their SUVs are in too much of a hurry to let them cross all the way to the other side safely.

When shooting trap I break 24 out of 25 and the one miss was the last clay bird...... Well maybe that's more frustration.

I try not to let other people bother me.... I'm too old and too tired.
Saw a T shirt the other day that I really should acquire. Said “I used to be a people person.....but people ruined it!”

I’ll add this, my wife came home the other day complaining about one of her pet peeves. People that cross streets not in the crosswalks.

I live in The Alexandria Va area and there are people that cross busy streets (6 lanes) where speed limit is 45 and they cross then hang out in a 2 foot wide median before finishing the cross.

Well she’s in Old Town and a person is crossing the street (just a 2 lane street) in the middle of the block. My wife is approaching the stopped car in front of her and instead of stopping short so the person could finish her crossing my wife pulled up to the car in front of her as normal.

The pedestrian gets all pissed that they have to stop and go behind my wife’s car. And in the process smacks my wife’s car trunk. It lit my wife UP! I get that pedestrians have the right of way but come on cross at the crosswalk.

In New Jersey, the cars entering a traffic circle have the right-of-way. If those in the circle can't make their exit they just have to go around again.

That's not technically correct. From the NJ Drivers Manual - 2018:

"There are no set rules for driving into, around and out of a traffic circle in New Jersey. Common sense and caution must prevail at all times. In most cases, the circle’s historically established traffic flow pattern dictates who has the right-of-way. If a major highway flows into and through the circle, it usually dominates the traffic flow pattern and commands the right-of-way. Traffic control signs, such as stop or yield signs, at the entrances to the circle also govern which motorist has the right-of-way. Never enter a traffic circle without checking all signs and determining the intentions of the motorists already moving within the circle. Whenever a motorist is in doubt concerning who has the right-of-way in a circle, he/she should exercise extreme caution and remember the basic rule governing any uncontrolled intersection: The vehicle to the left yields the right-of-way to the vehicle approaching from the right"

So like the Little Caesar's commercial says "There are no rules!"

Shore things as well - pedestrians who ALWAYS think they have the right of way - I have had people walk in front of me at a light when I had the green light - they didn't even look. I always stop to let people cross at the beach even mid-street but this was just plain stupid. Also all these dogs st the airport and on planes now - I feel like I am at the SPCA when I fly now.

Two questions for you.

First, WHY were you in the left lane in the first place since you weren't passing anyone?

Second, once you passed the road hog on the right WHY did you move back into the left lane when you weren't passing anyone?

I agree the truck you passed shouldn't have been in that lane, but you should not have been either.

I was in the left lane as the highway had recently gone from 2 to 3 lanes and I had passed a number of trucks and cars that were going slower and remained in the center lane.

I moved back to the left lane as after passing said car there was traffic ahead that was in the center lane that I then passed. In my rearview mirror I could see that after I passed the road hog remained in the left hand lane going a similar speed to the traffic in the center lane and created a jam behind her.

Ever driven the Britian or Ireland?

Driving in the right lane 5mph over the speed limit and getting the finger from cars passing you going 10 to 30mph over.

A person in a straight or turn lane who plans to go straight and who leaves a chasm of space so that those behind them wishing to turn can’t until they finally go forward.

To take that further, people who stop past the line in a turn lane so they don’t trigger sensor for the arrow which screws it up for people coming into the lane when there should be an arrow.
