I thought there was a video where this was discussed or maybe Tom Ryan came on FRL and clarified things, but I think there are some ways Snyder can capture earnings while still remaining eligiblethat's awesome, Congratulations Kyle!! Now take that momentum and win an Olympic Gold!!!!!!
Edit- He is obviously into being back with tOSU considering the tweet he sent out to spencer lee coming to Columbus instead of PSU recently. If he Medals in the Olympics, Wouldn't he be giving up a lot of money to come back to college wrestling?? I am not sure how that works? What are the odds he now will never wrestle in college again?
I don't think Snyder's cut to 197 is nearly what most think. Compared to Gadsen and Cox he was quite small. To add to the going back to school angle, I wonder if he puts on some weight and wrestles as a lighter heavyweight. His cut to 197 sounds like it was tough and wouldn't he want to stay in the Olympic weight range?
He'd be a perfect 220.
Snyder was incredibly ... pale. Especially next to the orange boundary ring.
Yojiro Uetake and John Smith came back and wrestled in NCAA after Olympics, but I am unsure about prize money. There have been endless goofy rule changes since then also.
Jake Deitchler was suspended by the NCAA for the rest of the 2009–2010 for taking $4,000 in prize money while wrestling internationally following the Olympics.
Seriously, tremendous match. Sky's the limit for him. Gotta wonder what Gadson thought when he saw it.
Pretty sure if you receive endorsements you lose eligibility, if I remember correctly that is why Jeremy Bloom was ruled ineligible. Ryan did say on FRL, that he would be able to keep his winnings.Back then, it wasn't much money to go freestyle full time. Now, the sponsors give these guys good money.
