So BoJo did not take a single offensive shot the entire match...

in all honesty, getting Valencia on friday night instead of Saturday night is an advantage for mark IMO
I agree; similarly I believe Nolf would've beaten IMar had they wound up on the same side of the bracket in 2016, especially after seeing how close Ian Miller came Friday night. I don't know if Zahid is cutting a ton but that match earlier this season against BoJo he showed a very vulnerable gas tank and that's more likely to be an issue on Friday night than Saturday. Wasn't an issue last year when Hall and Zahid met on a Friday but maybe Zahid's having a tougher cut this year.

Agree on Imar. He did the same thing in the semis of BIGs that year. He barely beat a kid (can't remember the name) from Michigan and looked completely gassed.

Everybody knows he is a husband and father. The order in which those happened is none of our business.
At least according to my old fashioned values, he did the right thing and married her.

No doubt he is an outstanding wrestler, but to not take a shot in 7 minutes is absurd. But as someone pointed out, if the ref called stalling it would not have happened.

All the weight classes have intriguing storylines. 174 is no different. Below is the current InterMat Rankings, top-8 only.

1 Zahid Valencia Arizona State Pac-12
2 Mark Hall Penn State Big Ten
3 Bo Jordan Ohio State Big Ten
4 Daniel Lewis Missouri MAC
5 Jordan Kutler Lehigh EIWA
6 Myles Amine Michigan Big Ten
7 Taylor Lujan Northern Iowa Big 12
8 Jadaen Bernstein Navy EIWA

-- Zahid has the easier path to an undefeated season. Mark has to go through Jordan/Amine at Big Ten's. Does the NCAA Wrestling Committee move Mark to #1 Seed, if he wins out as the returning champ, or do they use the ASC result to keep him #2?

-- Can an undefeated Daniel Lewis move in front of Jordan, making Jordan (as #4) a possible semi-final opponent to the #1 Seed at NCAA's?
Barring some big upsets, BoJo is looking at a #4 seed. Zahid and Lewis should go undefeated. Hall most likely worse case has one loss to BoJo at B1G's, that gets him a top 3 seed. If Hall is undefeated, it will be interesting to see how he and Zahid are seeded. If both are undefeated, it is probably better to get the #2 seed to wrestle Lewis in the semi's instead of BoJo.

Brian Murphy, who IMar should've waltzed through. Murphy was leading deep in third, IIRC.

I agree with you on that part ... and yet what bearing does that specific order of events have on his wrestling a couple years later?

Agree, none.

Plenty of athletes with hectic lives that do not involve marriage and children. Matt Brown has ROTC duties to balance. Some guys like Adam Coon are Aerospace Engineering majors, much more demanding that general studies. Some athletes do a lot of service projects etc.

Bill Parcells said it best, "You are what your record says you are."

Bojo got hit with stalling early in the 3rd after Halls 1st attempt. Hall hit a duck for 2 right after then rode him out. Hall could have been hit for stalling on top.

I was there and that’s just not true ...the kid was clearly upset with what happened ..you wanna critic DeLuca ..feel free ....but the VanBrill
kid did nothing wrong and yes he ran into the locker room but did not do what you’re saying

You were watching him after left the bench area? Where were you sitting? Did you have a good view the entire time? I saw him start running out of the corner of my eye and then looked over. After I locked in on him visually, I saw him do exactly what I said. From my seat in the second level, I had a very clear view. Someone else posted here that they saw the same thing, so I don't think there were two of us having the exact same hallucination. In fact, I initially didn't mention it, but when someone else independently report the same thing, I confirmed it. Look at the Rutgers match thread, post #293.

When I first saw it, I was so shocked I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. But when someone else also saw it, I realized they hadn't been.
