I’ll give you a genre under appreciated by almost an entire generation. Grunge rock (alternative? Whatever you want to call it) is under appreciated by the classic rock crowd. It’s essentially all just rock and roll (and I like it!) but some dismiss as being not as good as music from their generation. I think Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Rage, etc..... are right up there with The Who, Stones, Allman brothers, etc....
I can guarantee there is some great rock music coming out now that I don’t appreciate because I just don’t listen to as much new music as I did in my younger days but I wouldn’t dismiss it as not being as good as classic rock or 90s grunge.

The sheer volume of great young musicians, bands and artists is amazing. Keep an eye out.
