Does anyone know the low pitched song piped into stadiums on big plays? I have heard it at beaver, and other games watching on tv. I cannot make it out though…. If there is not enough info to answer this question, mods please delete.

Lyrics, if you can understand them, are NSFW or home, or public.

It’s “art”.

I think this is what the original poster was asking about. Seven Nations Army is played all over (I’ve heard it at NFL and MLB games this week too)
I heard them both a lot yesterday. Seven Nation Army has been around for a long time now, though. The crowd sings Seven Nation Army. Mo Bamba usually plays when it's rather quiet.

They play that song at sporting events? Where? To do that at what is supposed to be a family friendly event is disgusting.

Likely at every Penn St home game the past 5 years
If that's true, then sadly, I might not be able to root for this team anymore. We're heading towards moral bankruptcy.

And before anyone calls me a prude, if you look at my posting history, I'm a fan of music with far worse lyrics than what is posted above. But here's the difference: I would never subject other people's children to it. Only a scumbag or someone with incredibly poor judgement would do that.

It’s an absolute fact that it’s played at the majority of, if not all, games. Players love it and students love it. They’re playing a clean version, and I’m sure most fans have no idea what Sheck Wes is actually saying.

98% of the people attending have no idea of the lyrics of several songs played. Would love to see a hundred thousand copies handed out prior to a game. At multiple stadiums.

If they"re playing a clean version, that's a different story.

I feel dumber have listened to that song while reading the “lyrical genius” of the “artist”.

My daughter played the clean version for me the other day. Honestly, I can't understand what he's saying either way. Have not taken time to look for the "clean" lyrics. If the team likes it, I'm not complaining.

Searched for “clean” version and this is what came up. Just very short bleeps over the f bombs and it is very obvious what was said. And worse than the f bombs is this song glorifying drugs and violence, that women are just hoes, I buried two friends from ODs. Lots of murders and drive bys in the area. lots of teenage pregnancies, fatherless kids, all leading to crime. Lots of lives ruined.

There is no “clean” version of garbage.

I hate to break it to you guys but a majority of college football players subscribe to these songs as to it represents a culture they are from and possibly a life they live. Only the truth.

Do you all recall when “Sweet Caroline” was banned because of the lyrics?

Perhaps so, but it's up to the grownups to set the example. Most college students are not grownups.

Ingnorance is bliss.

When I was in high school, every once in a while my mom would get on her high horse about the “crude” rap music I listened to. Whenever she did that I would usually start cranking Clapton’s cocaine. That usually kept her quiet for a while.

Wut? Cocaine is not Clapton's song but JJ Cale's.

Clapton has been very vocal about his addictions. His book is one of the best autobiographies I've ever read. The bottom line is that, as a teen, he found out his mother is really his sister and his grandmother was his mother. He has no idea who is father is (listen to "my father's eyes" with that in mind). Clapton has donated millions to addiction recovery for those afflicted. He funded and opened in 1988 and is named "Crossroads" in Antigua.

He stole George Harrison's wife and wrote several songs about her. Layla, Bellbottom blues, and wonderful tonight. He also wrote one named "she's waiting" when he new she was going to leave him soon due to his addictions. Amazingly, Harrison and Clapton became best of friends and Clapton with with him when he died of brain cancer.

Back to the song "Cocaine". Clapton says it is a warning song about the drug noted in its wiki page. Even if it wasn't, personal drug use is a far cry from the womanization, violence and crap put out in today's rap music.

Mo Bamba went viral after it was blasted during the Michigan whiteout in 2019 and they had to call a timeout prior to their first play. The crowd went nuts!!! It will continue to be played during games, and for good reason, due to the fact that it pumps up the team and gets the crowd into the game more!

I was born in the mid 50's and grew up in the 60's. I have always maintained that GOOD music died somewhere in the 70's right before the advent of disco. The 60's gave us the greatest generation of music ever (so far IMO) and you can take the garbage they put out today and throw it out. Two facts will back up my statement:
1 look at all the music from that time they have worked into today's movies and films.

2 how much of today's music would you like as your class song 20-30 years down the road?

Not really a fact... No one who posts on this board can answer that objectively. people tend to like the music from their generation.

I'm probably younger than most here, 2025 will be my 20 year HS reunion. I still listen to a lot of music from high school/college which is decades after you allege good music died. Ran a marathon on Sunday. 90% of my 4.5 hour play list was produced between 99 and 2009. Oldest song on it was Don't Stop Me Now. Second oldest was Forgot About Dre.

One day grandparents are going to listen to gangster rap...

I might agree that the 60's was the best period for music, but there has been a lot of great music since then, and there still is. One difference is that the mass media doesn't curate the great music for us today like it did in the 60's.
