SI used to be a fine magazine. I stopped buying it and reading it about 10 years ago when it became political.what do you think? I don't think I'll buy it.

I think that I could not give less of a crap
Just enough crap to respond to the thread.I think that I could not give less of a crap
Honestly - who has purchased Sports Illustrated - or any magazine for that matter, on purpose, the past 10 years?
Awww poor baby..lolSI used to be a fine magazine. I stopped buying it and reading it about 10 years ago when it became political.
Our whole culture is disintegrating like SI.
TV shows, news media, etc. no longer strive to entertain or inform. They strive to influence.

I guess I'm old school. I still subscribe to three different print magazines including SI.Honestly - who has purchased Sports Illustrated - or any magazine for that matter, on purpose, the past 10 years?
I subscribe to Esquire and Wine Spectator. I think they started free by using up some excess frequent flyer miles. Both are fine magazines and I couldn’t enjoy them online.Honestly - who has purchased Sports Illustrated - or any magazine for that matter, on purpose, the past 10 years?
The political correctness is surprising to me. Businesses have historically done things like sexual harrasment and diversity training. They have also pushed to get more minorities into their management ranks. But at the end of the day their primary agenda remained the growth and profitability of their businesses.what do you think? I don't think I'll buy it.
That's the most clothing I've seen her wear.

Chicks still dig my velvet black light poster of Elvis. And dogs playing poker.I’m 46 and feel like I aged out of Esquire and GQ. It’s for single rich guys who need help with their wardrobe and interior design so girls aren’t turned off by the many Scarface and Goodfellas posters on their walls . I read some articles on line from them, but not enough time to actually have a copy (unless vacation or a flight - even then, probably a novel or iPad or podcast). I think the only magazine I still get is The Penn Stater. At one time I had GQ, Esquire, Detour, Details, Radar, Flaunt, Paper, and Playboy.
SI started sending me a subscription about six months ago. Never asked for it, never wanted it. I usually spend about 20 seconds thumbing through it before tossing it in the trash. I don't know what their subscription numbers are but if I were an advertiser I would seriously question them.Honestly - who has purchased Sports Illustrated - or any magazine for that matter, on purpose, the past 10 years?

I never renewed after the "We Were Penn State" cover. This certainly won't motivate me to re-up. "Opening Eyes, Speaking Truths, Changing Minds"????? Yeah, that's what I want from a sports magazine. That headline is like customer repellant.
No Maxim?I’m 46 and feel like I aged out of Esquire and GQ. Trans model makes Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover history: ‘If you don’t like it, you can go somewhere else’

Esquire in the eighties was pretty damn good. They had an Ethics column written by Harry Stein, first rate reading.I’m 46 and feel like I aged out of Esquire and GQ. I really like the way they reinvented the magazine. It's a monthly now, and the focus is on the stories. However, the swimsuit issue has become a complete bore. The SI cover meant one thing ten years ago; SI wants to rebrand and make it mean something else now.
SI made their choice. My choice is to return to the Paulina thread and ignore SI.
The SI cover, the "NFL is Gay" advertising, and the Gillette anti-male ad campaign ("boys will be boys" is a bad thing) are all intended to promote emasculation. In the past, businesses tailored their product to the customer. Now, the message to the customer is that you need to change. The SI cover meant one thing ten years ago; SI wants to rebrand and make it mean something else now.

I think you pretty much nailed it. I am willing to listen and debate any viewpoint, but don’t lead with telling me I am wrong. Don’t tell me I have to change without knowing me. SI has joined that chorus which is dividing us.The SI cover, the "NFL is Gay" advertising, and the Gillette anti-male ad campaign ("boys will be boys" is a bad thing) are all intended to promote emasculation. Because in their view, masculinity is bad for society. In the short run, it will greatly harm their business. In the long run, an emasculated society is much easier to control.
