This is my first post on this board although I've followed along for a long time. I'm really interested in what everyone believes the PSU line-up will look like come January 16th. Any thoughts?

Someone with more insight than I will surely respond, but there has been some chatter about Robbie Howard at 125 and Nick Lee going up to make room for Beau Bartlett at 141. that is an interesting early lineup!

A couple things remain to be seen...

1. If Howard will be ready at 125
2. If N. Lee is wrestling the short college season or will stay focused on the Olympic year...if he doesn't go, Bartlett likely at 141
3. If Lee doesn't go, who wins the job at 149...those in the mix would be T Bar, Luke G., or Verk

165-HWT seems locked in barring injury.

There are many more knowledgeable posters here, but I'll give it a shot.

125 - Howard
133 - RBY
141 - N Lee
149 - Bartlett
157 - Berge
165 - J Lee
174 - Starocci
184 - Brooks
197 - Beard
HWT - Kerkvliet

N Lee and Bartlett may swap but either way, I think this lineup has real potential to win it all.

What Lion-around said would my best guess too. Definite potential to win it all but Iowa is tough at every weight too and a little more experienced.

Our room with the NLWC and college guys is fantastic but I wonder since there wont be fans and no opens out there for matches if the coaches will allow prelim matches before the actual duals.

Going to be weird lead up to the conference tourney because covid really could change things quickly for a team.

I heard Kevin Dresser on the Stalemates podcast, Iowa State is having a high school format for duals, Varsity, JV and some exhibition matches. Hopefully the B1G does the same.

I say, if the B10 allows it, hell yeah, get as many guys matches as you can.

Of course, I have no information to support this, but it's just a hunch...Beau Bartlett is a start right away type of talent. He will start this season because he's simply too good to keep off the mat. The only question is will it be 41 or 49?

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Yeah, interesting comparison though.

Counting red shirt year, Lion Around's starting line-up has 256 career matches under their belt.

With Brands at 184, Iowa's starting lin-up has 698 career matches.
Good work, thats a crazy stat.

Penn st could start 6 "freshman" this year. So it might take them a little time to find their groove. Willie said Bartlett 141 and Nick Lee 149 , I think Nick Lee would be way under 149 and I have know idea what Bartlett is weighing.

Willie postulated that that was a possibility, but admitted he couldn’t confirm it. He didn’t mention Bartlett at 149, which has been a fan favorite theory here. Obviously, if he could be effective at weight, that could be huge for us. it seems to me a big part of Beau’s success lies with his power, so who knows. I think we have to be prepared for a possible Nick Lee at 141 and Baraclaugh/Verkleeren/Gardner at 149 though. I’ll enjoy rooting for each/any of them.

Nick would give up some size at 149 which likely affects his bonus potential. But at the same time, I feel his pace is what actually wears people down and ultimately makes him appear way stronger than his opponent once he gets in the top position.

If Nick wrestles 141, Bartlett by far would be the most competitive PSU athlete at 149.

this line up has so much potential, for many many years
I can’t wait for the season to start

As noted in another thread re:Lee and Kerk enrolling, Cael be like:

Has anybody bothered to tell Pyles that Cael's plan is to win another championship?

I think Cael has let Willie in on the secret.

Pretty sure Kerkvliet and Lee were not on the track roster until recently. Neither is certed yet but they are listed now. Could be wrong but I don’t think they were on before.

Beau Bartlett is going to get 5 years as a starter at 141 or 149.

Imagine what kind of monster that young man will be if he takes a RS next year, a la Zain, then comes back with 4 years of eligibility remaining.

He's going to be thrown to the wolves straight out of the gate against Rivera. However, we've seen other 141lb true freshmen do quite well against highly rated opponents...

That all depends on WHO is at 141 doesnt it?

Edit: speaking of Seabass, I wonder if he is regretting his move now that JoiseyNick has jumped on cruiseliner again.

I think WE ARE pretty good with this line-up. Nick deserves the chance to decide where he goes....BB will be fine at either 41 or 49.

Anyone know if Cael will be holding a virtual media day for press folks, prior to start of season?

If so, I bet they pipe in extra echo on the zoom to replicate that classic infuriating experience of trying to listen to the livestream in Lorenzo.

Yes. The zoom meeting should occur by the end of next week.

On the weekly zoom calls this season, either Cael or one of the assistants and at least one wrestler will be available to take the place of the normal media availabilities.
