No game thread? 2 minutes to go in a tied game. Can the Steelers pull it out?

TJ Watt….
$10 MM/tackle, tonight!
Their D line as a whole was the problem for much of the second half.

I don’t understand why replay buzzed in to stop the play in the closing seconds. There was no question at all about a catch and fumble recovered by Seattle. The clock is running. You just can’t buzz in there on a play that had no controversy or question at all and end up giving Seattle basically a free time out.

Because NFL has turned into the replay league.. You remember when 4PM games would start and they wanted the 1PM games to be over. now thyey gotta start the 4PM games at 430.

There are like 4-5 replays a game.

True but there was no question about that play at all. Nothing even questionable for a replay review.

The replay ref just can’t interfere in a game in the final 3 seconds with a running clock like that.

Watt sacked Smith, now on this series forces a fumble..

Guy is by far the best Defensive player in football, and probably top 5 overall player. He is unreal

Flipping through stations before work this morning and saw Max Kellerman, Keyshawn on a show where they would take calls, don't know the name as I never watch it, but the subject was best player in the NFL. Of course the few calls I heard were homers calling in saying players on their favorite teams like Dak Prescott, Diggs, someone said Derek Carr. Max said the best player is someone who just makes a unit and got me thinking, wouldn't TJ Watt be in the convo? I mean take him out of the Pittsburgh D and were would they be? Didn't they lose two games without him already this year?

BTW, I am not saying Watt is the best player in the NFL. I think guys like Murray, Lamar are just as important and good, but IMO he should be in the convo.

The refs are taking it to the Steelers this year, they negated a block field goal and return for a touchdown against the Packers because the rush from the Steelers was too good to be true. The refs should just huddle and declare all the remaining Steeler games losses, award them the number one pick next year, and we can all go home.

Yeah, that’s what they’re doing.

Better to think that after years of the Steelers benefiting from many questionable calls, the officials have decided as a group, to screw the Steelers this year and make sure they lose every game. And why would they suddenly do that? What’s the end game? I guess it’s to continue to help the Patriots win every game like Steeler fans thought for years….oh wait, the Patriots suck…so what team is the conspiracy helping this year?

Yeah, you really have to question if a replay would have been requested except for the game clock running down?

Seattle was so lucky down the stretch. Three fumbles bounced right to them. Finally bit them at the end.

The Steelers running game is starting to show signs of life. They’ll need more from that to have a chance at the playoffs.

Steelers and NFL = Penn State and B2G. The NFL has always had it in for the Steelers since they won four SB in six years. Didn’t meet their competitive goals. They have made at least five rule changes because of techniques the Steelers use to play the game.

Tomlin, who is generally diplomatic in his comments on officiating, didn't like this:

Steelers’ Mike Tomlin calls end-of-regulation replay review ‘an embarrassment’

But what likely incensed Tomlin about the replay review was that it stopped the game, ultimately, with 3 seconds on the clock when Seattle was down by three points and at the Steelers’ 25. If not for the decision to give the play another look on replay, the Seahawks perhaps would not have gotten an ensuing snap off to spike the ball and kill the clock.

“I cannot believe that game was stopped to confirm catch/no catch in that moment,” Tomlin said. “That’s all I’m gonna say.”

Replay showed they spiked the ball with one second left. But the play was negated by referee stopping the play to review the previous play. But by stopping everything for a couple minutes it gave Seattle time to calm everyone down and get the kicking team all set for the kick.

Had play not been stopped they would have had to take onto the field rather quickly and may have missed the kick, ending the game.

The past few games have been indicative of Tomlin/Steelers over the past 4-5 years with the exception of last year when they started 11-0.
  • They get a bad stretch like the 1-3 start this year. There's little talk about how bad Tomlin is and what there is quickly extinguished by "but but but Tomlin has never had a losing season" mantra.
  • They hit it lucky with some games against bad teams or teams with injuries and get back to .500 or maybe a game over .500 and then there's the talk of how great a coach Tomlin is and the Steelers are lucky to have him.
Tomlin is essentially the Doc Rivers of NFL. Speaking as a lifelong Steeler fan, I am just over his schtick. His one SB win was with a mostly-Cowher built team during a season with Brady out for the season. In his other SB appearance, he avoided the Patriots. I could go on...

LOL STILL SUCKING BIG TIME AND QUIT THROWING THOSE STUPID ASS 2-3 YARDS PASSES!I THINK TOMLINS TIME IS UP!!SAME BULLSHIT EVERY WEEK!!

Playoffs? Playoffs? Never happen.

Didn’t “they” say that if the new playoff format had been in place over the last ten years the Steelers would have made it every year?

This team shows flashes of excellent complementary play like the Buffalo game or the first half last night but they don’t seem to be able to keep it together for more than that.

They won’t win the division but I would not be surprised at all for them to be a wild card.

I actually can see them finishing last in the division. But, beers are on me if they get into the playoffs.

Not if the running game doesn’t get going. If the young line starts to gain confidence and the running game starts to move the ball the passing game can open up more and less of the short, quick routes. Big IF though.

Other than Okorafor...I could not name one other Oline guy...that may not have happened since the early 80's...

Those 2-3 yard passes are better then chucking it downfield and getting picked off.

Last night was the best overall game they played in a while. Ben's fumble was the only bad part and blame that on Ray McCloud, not sure what he was doing. In fact I don't know why he he is even getting so many snaps. Cody White is a better option IMO.

I don't know. The game in 2 weeks will tell a lot. Cleveland D has been horrible;e the last 2 weeks. A lot of football left. Steelers D is for real and it can get them in the playoffs by themselves as AFC is not very strong outside of Buffalo.

KC, Baltimore, Vegas, LA, Cleveland, Tennessee all look beatable.

Not worried about Cincy cause Burrow will not go all year without being hurt, he gets hit a ton.

Thought their O-line has played well the last 3 weeks... Harris looks like a very good 1st. Kid can do it all.
