Steelers may limp into the playoffs, but they are soooo bad.

I wonder how many plays there were in that game where before it you'd think "If this play turns out a certain way, the Steelers are in the playoffs." And they all turned out the wrong way, until the very last one. What a way to make the playoffs. Amazing.

Browns gifted the playoffs to the Steelers. With average qb play, Browns would have beaten Steelers twice.
Yeah, the Brown's are working real hard to do the Steelers favors.

If the browns were better at the most important position, they’d have won?

Lol yeah probably
Case Keenum was probably better than Mayfield. In any event virtually everyone thinks the Browns have top 3 talent. Can't win because of poor qb play. If they had average play, they would be in playoffs.

Keenum absolutely better. Only good thing about ol’ 9-sack baker is the commercials.

Can’t do much in the modern NFL without high-level QB play. We Steeler fans may bear witness to that for a few seasons, but for now I will enjoy the sunshine

If the Chargers get a FG on this drive the Raiders would be dumb not to just kneel on the ball and end the game in a tie.
Had the Raiders done that, I wonder how the NFL would have reacted. In essence, that would be fixing the outcome of a game.

Think you’d want the backup QB to do it.

It’s either that or Ben’s arm is hamburger.
IMO Ben’s arm is dead. He can only manage 1 in 5 passes more than 10 yards past the LOS.
But I’m also not a fan of Canada.
Ben can still throw deep. Problem is the o line is terrible so he does get time. And none of their receivers have great speed to get open deep. So the key to their offense is to get rid of the ball as quick as possible.

He can sling it, occasionally, deep but its not pretty. There's more to the Steelers Offensive issues than just the bad OL.
And while I don't know the speed of their WR's I do know they have issues catching it.

Yeah, though Diantae Johnson deserves props for what he accomplished this year -- 107 catches for 1161 yards with fewer drops. Still, he is more elusive than a burner.

Steelers missed JuJu this year, and had very little quality depth at WR.

I guess those two things are more or less mutually exclusive, but they're a mess.

They're trying to run the ball, even a little, and it is simply the same as saying "OK, let's just call it 3rd and 7 after each first down and we'll go from there".
As Bill Parcells always said, “just get in the tournament, anything can happen.”

Steelers have some history as a low seed. From wiki about the 2005 Steelers:

The Steelers qualified for the playoffs as a wild-card team as the #6 seed and became just the second team ever (and the first in 20 years) to beat the #3 seed Bengals (11–5), the top-seeded Colts (14–2), and the #2 seed Broncos (13–3) to become the American Football Conference representative in Super Bowl XL. They defeated the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL to secure their league-tying fifth Super Bowl title. In doing so, they also became the only team since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to win a Super Bowl without playing a single home playoff game until the 2007 Giants.

I am shaking my head a the people who wonder why they kicked the field goal. I understand them not really trying all that hard not to get into field goal range but, they did and the point of the game is to win, so you go for it. To NOT try that kick would have been the controversy.

First, they are now the 5th seed as opposed to the 7th seed. uh, duh.
Second, they get a chance to knock out a good chargers team

Slept like a baby knowing that no matter what happened with the stinking raiders and lucky ass chargers( that they beat Steelers without Fitzpatrick) that the Steelers would be in the playoffs!!

woke up and yes the Steelers are I. The playoffs.
Wahoooo.

Disagree - I think this is more symptomatic of the OL issues. I've been hearing all year that Ben's been getting the passes out very quickly. I think it's the awareness that he is not gonna have much time to allow deep routes to develop. He can still air it out when necessary, but rarely does he have the time to set up for that.

Oh, you have no idea. The way it was going I thought that it would end in a tie. The winning FG kicked as time expired in OT. Ouch! Stupid call by the Raiders to go for 2 when they went up 26-14. If they had kicked the extra point instead, then combined with that FG (30-14) the chargers would have had to get 2 two point conversions to tie.

That Chargers vs Raiders game ended up being ridiculous if you are a Steelers fan. How many ways could the Raiders let the Chargers back in that game?! That 4th quarter was PSU D esque giving up like 5 straight 4th and 9s or 10s. I mean c'mon, really, what are the odds that they are 100% on these conversions?! They should have gone for the win at the end of reg with a two point play. LV had no clue at that point.
Then when they have a chance to win it in OT with a TD they of course stall and tie it again with a FG. They were unstoppable on 4th down so you wonder why they did not just go for it. I could not believe what I was seeing when it looked like it was incredibly going to end in a tie. LA called the TO to get in a better defense! They were trying to win!

Why is the OT only 10min? Does that extra 5min of playing time really make that much of a difference in terms of player safety/fatigue or whatever excuse they have concocted? That does set up for ties well, too well in my opinion. Go back to making it 15 min.

I know, talk about heart attack inducing!

Al Davis

just win baby.
None of that baby a tie is a good thing and let’s take a knee.

100 percent committed to excellence. 100 percent committed to being ok and tying the game? Nope.
Stillers. Bring on the chiefs. 🥵

I was comfortably watching the game then my heart rate and nervousness just skyrocketed! Just shocked it had to come down to needing a 47 yard FG! I think the Stillers have a low probability of beating KC but after the hurrah of getting into the playoffs (or so we thought) against heavy odds you have a totally different mindset after that. For that game then to end in a tie would have been such a bummer! Would have felt bad for Ben, he deserves better than to go out on that bizarre, low probability note.

Tomlin is not that stupid.

Oh wait, ...yes he is!
Tomlin is so stupid that he got a team with a bad offensive line, a 39 year old QB . No running game to win 9 games and make the playoffs. Beat 2 division winners in Tennessee and Buffalo. There are no sure wins in the NFL . Tremendous job by the coaching staff this year against the toughest schedule in the NFL. That said I expect they lose by 2 TD’s to KC. Just not at their level after drafting at the bottom for the last 18 years.

Road game, road game, likely road game
What difference does 5 or 7 make unless you're scared of KC
And the Chargers aren't exactly good

Let's not pretend he didn't want the 39 year old QB and didn't do anything to address the OL other than 2 mid round picks. Beating Tennessee and Buffalo is great. They only had one win by more than 10 points. That tie vs. Detroit still looks bad as does the loss at Minnesota.

Also, drafting late isn't the problem.

I'm an Eagles fan , at least the Steelers tried to win football games, unlike that almost tie last night.

Football is weird, like hockey. Momentum and confidence is key to the sport. Quite common for a team to peak just as playoffs start and that wave to the SB. Not sayin the Steelers are gonna do it but one never knows. They just made two changes in the o line and they played much better against good competition.

The two biggest questions are how bad in Watt? He blocked a pass at the end of the first half and badly limped off holding his groin which has kept him out of games this season. He played the first series of the second half but the Ravens ran right over him for a long TD and he didn’t come back until the final minute of play. If he can’t go that’s a serious blow to the defense.

The second question is how bad is Najih Harris’s arm? Hurt in first quarter, missed second quarter, played with arm wrapped up in second half. If it stiffens up, swells up, somehow keeps him out that seriously hurts the offense.

If healthy they have a decent chance. If both of those players are out it could be ugly.

I'm curious how many on this board are true Steelers fans that have stuck with the team during their dark periods and not bandwagoners. There's nothing with the latter, as the Steelers are one of the most popular NFL teams followed by the Cowboys, Packers and Chiefs. We might as include other very popular sports teams such as Manchester United, NY Yankees, Argentina. I get it: You want to associate yourself with winners.

I'm proud to say I've been a diehard Lions fan.

I hope you're right but I think this is very optimistic. Kansas City is far superior right now. KC is 12.5 point favorites and I expect that to climb. I'd be thrilled if the Steelers are even competitive.

When's the last time the Steelers really had a dark period? I grew up rooting for the Steelers and they really haven't been bad since the end of the Noll era.

I don't think the Steelers really are even known to have bandwagon fans truthfully
