I am invited to play in an over 40 league , and have no idea what kind of shoes to buy. We would be playing about 20-30 games a year.
Thanks in advance gang.

I'm assuming you used to play basketball. Did you prefer high tops, low tops or mids?

I've always been a Nike guy and find that their "Airs" provide plenty of cushioning. Only major variables (beyond price and ugliness factor) are weight (the shoes I have now are really light) and "containment" (ankle support). You can get a very decent pair of shoes online for $70.

I played a little pick up ball 20 some years ago. I was a wrestler.

I think ankle support and durability would be the 2 areas of concern for me.
Only 70$ ? Do you have a suggestion on a website?

If you are playing indoors, durability won't be an issue (i.e. your shoes will last at least one season). If this is a "playground" league, then your shoes will get eaten up quickly. There may be "outdoor specific" shoes that are more durability, but I'm not familiar with those (and suspect they'd be heavy).

I think the finish line has pretty good options (and has free shipping on order over $30 right now), although they don't have a ton of sale stuff in stock right now. For example:

Zappos is also a good option.

This is what I am wearing right now and really like them except for the coloration on the soles (which looks like you stepped in paint or something):
