So Cael reiterated that he's earned the 157 slot and that he'll impress given some time. He's got two tough matchups this weekend vs #21 D Zapf and vs #10 J Humphreys. How do people think these will go? Barraclough, hopefully fully over the flu, should have a chip on his shoulder with something to prove. Will he go 2-0? 1-1? 0-2? Scores?

I say he edges Zapf in a close one, but gets the W, 5-4. Humphreys, on the other hand, wins comfortably over Terrell in a Major, say something like 11-3, 12-3. So he goes 1-1. What say you all?

WE ARE!!!

1-1 or 0-2, the win will be against Josh humphreys and we will still be talking about joe lee at the 157 after. It just seems so us

And then we'll probably also drum up the name of some miracle transfer that never comes to fruition.

i think zapf is a little under the radar. he actually beat humphries. wouldn't be surprised to see your prediction flipped. would be shocked if there were any bonus, especially from humprhries. he's not a scorer like that. don't read too much into that hartman match. he's really good on top. zapf and humphries don't have a top game like that and tb is tough on his feet. i expect two close matches.

Until proven wrong, I'm going to take his Army loss as an outlier. The only thing I learned 2 weeks ago was that he has a hard time getting off the bottom when coming back from the flu.

His career record coming into the season was 11-4 with losses to Zacheri (3-1), Hofman (6-1), Yaya Thomas (3-1), and Storr (4-3).

I say he hangs close with both wrestlers this weekend and comes away with at least 1 win.

Any particular reason that you are hearing about or more so just some RnR? Curious cause the match notes came out and there’s only 125 and 157 with 2 listed options
197 too—would be nice to lose Dean’s bonus potential but have Beard step in.

REALLY hoping Nick’s knee is relatively minor and he’ll be ready to roll soon. Extremely obvious to state but the team race is so tight that just a single injury completely changes the picture.

Corby and Willie mentioned the same, that some guys will be out this week, possibly virus related/traced. Have not gotten to that part of the show yet.

Sucks that Covid still has such a big potential impact on sports. I believe that wrestling due to the close contact indoors sharing sweat, is much higher risk than most other sports. All things considered the NCAA wrestling has done exceptionally well avoiding a breakthrough wiping out half of a team somewhere.

No vaccine - test positive = quarantine
Vaccine - test positive = quarantine
Previous infection & antibodies - test positive = quarantine

No I do not want this to become Vacc or CV thread, the point being no wrestler is ever safe, with every test comes that knot in the stomach until the negative comes back.

The reality is true "immunity" is a myth so we may be in this boat for years of not decades until such point as CV is viewed much the same as the Flu. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

All this talk of point differentials between Iowa, PSU and now Mich. Between CV and injuries, I assert there is zero chance that all three teams hit nationals at full strength this year.

More than one Superbowl was decided as much by the test of the war of attrition, sadly wrestling may follow suit.

All part of the plandemic...

I hope one of the “big ones” isn’t Kerk. I’m hoping to see him get as much time on the mat as possible. The downside in missing this weekend is probably lower for the other guys.

He got it checked out and immediately decided to continue and looked good against Willits (7 point decision against a solid kid who got one extra escape on him, Willits also rolled out of a few takedowns) Byers said "it's just a tweak, nothing major but no need to rush things this early" He looked in good spirits and walked without any limp at Army on the sidelines and getting his award. I think he's fine. It sounds like the team is struck by some kind of flu bug (maybe Terrell was just the first lol) ... once again, better now than February.

Someone speculated the same bug that hit the football team a few weeks back. Not CV, but nasty.

With those long arms of his, he should be a cradle machine like Shaq was. I say 1-1. Cael has faith in him so how can I go against him? Although Cael also had confidence in Jimmy Guilbon as well! Good Luck Terrell!! Go get SUM!!!
