most of you saw this link to interactive bracket that you can input bonus and it calculates team scores.

Thought it would fun to predict team score with tOSU

I have PSU 146 tOSU 126

I’ve got following

1st - Zain, Nolf, nickal
2nd - Cenzo, Hall
3rd - NN
5th - Shak
7th - Lee

1st Snyder
2nd Martin
3rd tomasello, Moore
4th pletcher
5th McKenna
6th. BO
7th Micah, Hayes

Rest of team scores

Michigan 87
Iowa 76
Lehigh and OkSt at 56.5
NCSTate
Missouri
Ariz St
South Dakota

Didn’t calculate bonus for anyone other than PSU and tOSU

I filled my bracket out being somewhat conservative for PSU, and tended to give tOSU the benefit of the doubt in some tossups. This is what it spit out:

1 Penn State 147.0
2 Ohio State 144.5
3 Michigan 92.5
4 Iowa 85.0
5 North Carolina State 71.5
6 Missouri 70.5
7 Oklahoma State 68.5
8 Lehigh 60.5
9 Arizona State 49.5
10 Virginia Tech 46.5

Tigger, It won’t be that close if PSU gets 5 into the finals with 3 winners compared to Buckeyes 2 and 1.... PSU will advance 5 to the finals but the Bucks will send 4. The scoring race will be nip and tuck throughout but PSU will get more early bonus points and that will be the difference. They will be raining down pins in the early sessions.

I have:

PSU 148
tOSU 129.5

Zain, Jason, Bo #1
Cenzo, Mark #2
NickN #3
NickL, Shak #7

Kollin, Kyle #1
Myles #2
Nato #3
Ke'Shawn, Bo #5
Micah #7
Luke DNP

Remaining field:
Mich 93.5
NCST 80.5
Mizz 73.5
Iowa 73.0

If PSU gets to 140, and OSU gets more...they earned it!

Agree, I see 145 as their ceiling. Yeah, they won the Bigs, but just like last year the nationals will be a different story.

9 of their 10 wrestlers were qualifiers last year, and they totaled 123.5 points. They add Hayes this year, 12 points tops, and if a few others improve they could approach 145.

We return 6 wrestlers from last year ... 138 points ... plus we add Keener, Lee and Shak. Even if our 5 champs don't repeat I figure they, plus NN, will score at least 128. 12 points is not a lot to ask from NL, SR and CK. If one of them goes deep that could be 12+ points right there.

I don't think you have to wear blue/white glasses to think PSU is the favorite. It used to be what they called the Iowa factor, somehow you knew they were going to win. Now we own the hammer, and it won't be easy to take it away.

PSU 144 - tOSU 136

I would love for you to be 100% correct. However....I think your 146 point total for PSU is Very optimistic. I think that it is more likely that either Tomasello or Moore is a finalist. I will be quite surprised ( and thrilled ) if Bo Jordan doesn't finish higher than 6th. I also think either Micah or Hayes exceeds 7th. Finally.....I believe Campbell will score some points for OSU. I think we can all agree that OSU will score more bonus points than last year. That pretty much makes it a toss-up or slightly favors the bad guys. If Keener can equal Campbell's points and Lee can score as many as Gulibon and Cutch scored last year ...and Nolf is the Nolf we love to watch......I give the edge to the Blue and White. A 20 point difference is hard for me to imagine.......I am thinking about 5........but I am REALLY hoping you are much more accurate than I am :)

Gulibon + Cutch = 8.5 points

Keener + Lee + Shak > 8.5 points.
Obviously Shak needs to score points........unless you are quite certain we have 5 National Champs like last year. Last year OSU had 3 dead weights. If Campbell scores points they will almost assuredly have 10 scorers this year. Outside of injuries....I can't imagine anyone not having OSU scoring a LOT more than 110 this year. That means PSU will most likely have to come close to last years total. So....if Keener and Lee can equal the 8.5 from last year plus what Campbell Scores ( hopefully 1 or less ).....and Shak scores enough to balance out the loss of points by not having 5 Champs....PSU should be in pretty good shape. I think everyone agrees that if PSU has 5 champs...the trophy comes back to PSU. Even 4 Champs should be more than enough. 3 Champs...?? It gets blurry if other guys under perform or OSU out performs. I think most fans would be very happy with 3 and would expect that would be enough to get 1st under most scenarios. I think it will be close.....looking forward to watching.

I will be impressed if fOSU has 9 AA’s. Did they peak two weeks early again? Will know Friday at 2. I will be completely shocked if Pfletcher, McKenna, and Moore wrestle to seed.

OSU has three potential winners and 9 AA’s. Campbell will fall early.

PSU has 5 potential champions and 8 AA’s. Keener will fall early.

So can Joseph gap Campbell more than Pletcher gaps Keener? Hoping Parker beats Pletcher.

Got to concede 125 to OSU and hope Tomasello loses to Lee in semi’s.

This will come down to performances at 141, 149, 157, 174, 184, 197, and 285.

At 141, can Lee get past Alber, then Meredith? Will McKenna trip up against Jack?

At 149, Zain needs to bring the pain and pin, pin, pin. Hope Hayes doesn’t get past Heilmann.

At 157, no problem if Nolf is healthy. Jordan gets derailed by Lavallee.

At 174, Hall wins and BoJo doesn’t get past Lewis.

At 184, Bo over MyMar, again!

At 197, can Rasheed beat Moore if they meet in the semi’s?

At 285, Coon needs to win and Nevills needs to secure 3rd!

It is very doable for the Nits, with some realistic help, if they bring their A (bonus) game. They typically do at the finals.

I did a bracket sans bonus and had osu 14.5 points behind the good guys. Granted, that was with Snyder Moore and NATO not wrestling to seed. History tells us that osu will struggle mightily.

In my original scenario........PSU 146 tOSU 126

If Moore wins instead of 3rd then 146 tOSU 132.5 AND
If nato wins instead of 3rd then PSU 146 tOSU 139
AND
if Bo takes 3 instead of 6 then PSU 146 tOSU 143.5

I have PSU 158 to 154. During the Cael years, PSU always wrestles above seed as a team. With Nolf and Joseph as #3 seeds, looks like they do so again this year.

Ohio State wrestles slightly above seed going back the last 7 years too. Should be a very exciting and close team race.

I came up with:

Penn State 149.5
Ohio State 146.0
Michigan 98.5
Iowa 82.5
Arizona State 61.0
Missouri 61.0
North Carolina State 57.5
Lehigh 55.5
Oklahoma State 54.5
Cornell 47.5

I had NaTo 3rd, Pletcher 5th,McKenna 2nd, Hayes 5th, Micah 7th, Campbell 2-2, BoJo 3rd, MyMar 2nd, Moore 1st, Snyder first.

For the good guys: Keener 1-2, Lee 7th, Retherford 1st, Nolf 1st, Joseph 2nd, Hall 2nd, Nickal 1st, Rasheed 6th, Nevills 4th.

I feel like my projections leave more upside for Penn St than tOSU. Ohio St could certainly see higher finishes from 25, 33, 49, and 57, but I think 41, 65, 97, and 285 could drop. Can't wait for Thursday!

IMO, we have a higher ceiling than tOSU. After all, we have 5 guys who have already proven they can win it all.

If we wrestle to our potential I don't think the Bucks have the firepower to hang with us.

I hope that tan tom prints NC shirts and someone finds them before the finals and posts it to social media.
He lives too far south to ever let that happen. You have to suffer regular brain freeze to think pissing straight into a karma gale is a good idea.

What history is that? History tells us Osu will wrestle above seed, it also tells psu will wrestle above seed even more so than osu. But history doesn't tell us Osu will struggle mightily, unless I'm missing something.

PSU's floor is just so much higher than osu's. Osu has so many variables and don't have the sure things that psu does.

True dat. tOSU hasn't "wet the bed " by any means in recent years. When they have gotten beat, it's because they've been outperformed. Let's hope it happens again.
