There are differences of opinion concerning the degree that freestyle excellence translates into folk style. My position is that it is the same athlete-same cool head and big heart walking onto the mat. The fact that folk style champs need sometime to transition to the international scene does not mean a kid that rocks in freestyle at the cadet and junior level ( Hall and S. Lee come to mind) won't be able to walk onto a folk style mat and figure it out. I feel Hall's biggest strength at the Nationals was his extensive experience winning big tournaments. This experience, much of it in freestyle, which Cael referred to over and over again during the lead up to the nationals, made the difference. Can't wait to watch Teasdale in blue and white!

Picc won't get to wrestle Gavin in Folk, so it doesn't even matter. Suriano will punish Picc for the next few years, unless Picc going up to make room for Daton? Is that the plan? Thanks Cowboy

Someone is going to have to move to get them all in the lineup at once. Fix is larger than Picc. I haven't asked the plan, and won't speculate from what I have heard.

I was actually more impressed with Teasdales performance in his loss to Fix in the finals as it pertains to his folkstyle ability. Not to take away from his win against Picc - it was certainly dominant - but none of those moves would've scored him points in folk.

Yep, both were freestyle.

Teasdale won 10-0 at Junior nationals

Piccinnini came back and won 12-2 a month later at junior world team trials.

without looking them up, I think both matches were 12-2 TF freestyle.

The finals match with Fix could of been the best finals match although watching Hall take out Massa was pretty cool also. Two weeks and we'll get to see a lot of these matchups again. Can't wait
