Temple Game Early Thoughts

Marcus Allen is underrated by most, a few are predicting he'll have a massive breakout year. I count myself in that group. I think he's the best safety in the Big Ten. I agree that when it is all said and done we'll look back at this secondary as one of the best ever.

I also believe Sickels is star in the making. I think he will be better than either DE who left (sorry Deon).

That is one of the main points I think is lost in all of this. The talent level of the guys who are up and coming is higher than at any point in the last decade for us. These are guys who were sought after by the OSU's, and Bamas of the world. They are star caliber players. Temple doesn't recruit like that. I like the comment above "How many of Temple's starters could start for Penn State?"

Allen had his breakout year last year. At this point he is under consideration for all B10 honors and if he improves from last year he will be a preseason AA for 2016.

Wow bdgan with the most realistic assessment I've seen yet. Bravo for taking off the blue and white colored glasses. I don't disagree with anything he said. Also the national line is around -10 for PSU so I don't hate his prediction either

I am at a complete loss as to what the hell makes people tick. What goes through a (so called) Temple fan's head that makes him come on this or any board just to agitate people. I seriously believe people that do things like that have some type of mental problem. I doubt you're actually a Temple fan and I'm certain you're not an OR Dr.

I have this image in my head of a typical Temple/Rutgers/Pitt Troll, and I think it is more accurate than not.

The shame of it is, I envision these people to be upper-middle class professionals like myself, taking 5 minutes from their busy work day to hit the web and read a little football banter. That's why it's really hard for me to understand why they do what they do. I shudder at the fact that these people may have a college education, a real job and children.

Quite accurate except I envision the Red Pit trolls with their free stacks of Block R magnets thumb tacked all over the paneling, because they couldn't figure out why they wouldn't stick! Probably would have a hat on backwards in the rally position too!

To be fair, ESPN ranks Temple higher in their Power Index than Illinois, Northwestern, Maryland, Indiana and Rutgers, in addition to the three you named.

The same ESPN that threw PSU and Joe Paterno under the bus with no evidence, simply for ratings... and then didn't apologize once proven wrong? I could care less what they think.

SBNation has MD #49, Rutgers #54, NW #57, Temple #65, IND #75, and ILL #79

PSU is at #31

regardless, saying you're better than Illinois and Indiana is nothing to brag about. I do think this is one of the better Temple teams in years and will be very competitive. But this is NOT one of the worst PSU teams in years. In fact, this is one of the best receiving corps Penn State has had since 1994. The OL should not give up 44 sacks like they did last year, and the more comfortable Hack feels in the pocket, the better he throws.

You're stating that you're going to beat one of the toughest opponents on your schedule this year (according to ESPN) by more than 3 touchdowns, and yet you're not going to play for an NC?

You can't have it both ways. If you're going to make ridiculous predictions, just go all the way with it bro!

The bottom line is that, unlike the more informed posters here, you know absolutely NOTHING about what's changed for TU vs. last year. As such, you're in no position to make any prediction on this game at all.

You're simply throwing stuff up against the wall, hoping it sticks. The worst kind of fan there is: completely uninformed, but still insists on being the loudest person in the room.

Look, I think the Temple game will be tough I also think we win by 7 or more.
But and read this slowly so it sinks in YOU (Temple) are not one of the toughest opponents on our schedule. You might be better than SDSU and RU but you are not better than MSU, Michigan, tOSU, Northwestern and maybe not better than Indiana.

And yes things have changed for TU but they have also changed for us as well.

Nice of fairgambit to take a break from one of his 15,000 posts to take a quick selfie...

Seriously tho that's impressive that his BWI output is probably higher than his work output. Imagine if he cleaned 15,000 toilets during his janitorial career, or stocked 15,000 shelves during his night shift at CVS; he probably could have afforded to move out on his own by now, or perhaps even contribute to his parents Comcast bill for all the bandwidth he takes up down there.

Get this guy a brick wall and a mic!!!! He is on fiiiiiiiiiirrrrreee.

At least 2 linemen better than any on our roster?
Quicker defense?
Best MLB in the country?
Better TE"s?
Wow. sounds like you have a team of #1 draft choices, because NFL scouts have suggested that we have two DT's that will be drafted in the first 3 rounds at the worst. LB's that will play on Sundays. A couple of TE's that were highly recruited and likely to play on Sundays. On and on.

Sounds like Rhule is doing a decent job at Temple. If he was doing an outstanding job he would have already moved on to a power 5 conference school.

I know the water in Philly can do bad things to one's brain cells, but you must be on another cool aid as well.

Everyone thinks 10-2 before the season starts, even pitt has a thread about it. Then reality sets in when you lose to akron, or maryland.

From what I can tell, you're easily the worst poster on all of BWI. I'm sure there are PSU fans here who agree, but just won't say so because the Temple guy pointed it out.

Oh well... in a sea of mostly well-grounded, informed posters, there's always one village idiot making ridiculous prognostications based on nothing. Every school has one or two of these guys it seems.

It's cool. I'm glad that even if we lose by 20 points on 9/5, I can still come back here and call you a fool. Just remember: no one asked you to make a fool of yourself, you did it all on your own.

We've got such terrible, universally disliked posters on this site (Felli, CR66, Glov, etc), that no one agrees with you.

Question, did he post on your team's message board too?

Temple fans, for the most part, aren't assuming that we'll beat Penn State on 9/5. We think it will be a close game that could go either way, as do most of the informed posters on this site.

You, however, are stating that PSU will win by 21 or more, which is absolutely absurd. You're setting youself up to look like a fool, regardless of who wins the game.
Nobody thinks this game "can go either way".

That would be you, and only you.
