Thank god for Coach Franklin....

If I can make the game next week I may just walk through the lots the try and find ppb and jb409 in their Confederate flag raised tailgate and beat the stupid out of them
Losers expose themselves when they have nothing other to play than their "race card". You and your ilk are humorlessly insufferable.

Haha I'm far from left anything politically. It's the only thing I can assume that you think about him since nothing else you say makes sense.

Love coach Franklin!! He is exactly what PSU needed!! He works tirelessly and represents PSU with such class. He is a great coach! The players love him. He recruits lights out! But most importantly he is a a great man!! We are extremely lucky to have him!! Anyone who says differently to me is not a true Penn Stater!! Thank you coach Franklin and team for a tremendous year!!!
He is all those things. He is also a 10 win a year/good bowl game type coach. People have to accept that - there is no next level.

Anyone catch when Gus Johnson was talking about how CJF is one of the top coaches in the country?

I thought it was an a**hole move to throw in the “rumors swirling that he might interested in the USC job” - I’m sure there are recruits watching the game saying wtf??

I'll put it in terms perhaps even you can comprehend....James Franklin is a respectable recruiter, but an incredibly poor football coach. Further, he purposely surrounds himself with even less talented "yes James" assistants in or order to build up his fragile ego.

PSU has one of the weakest assistant coaching/coordinator staffs in the Top 25 of CFB yet many of you want PSU to pay them more money.

It is clear that people post the same things over and over, just in different threads.
  • The first premise inherent to the statement / statistic is that all of those teams were ranked...
  • The second premise inherent to the statement is that 100% of those games were on the road...
  • Third, the context is that most of the opponents were higher ranked, so it isn't as if more than a couple were considered "upsets". That is a significant bias in the statistic.
  • Fourth, his record at PSU before Iowa was reported as 0-6, so it is now 1-7 at PSU, at which his first couple of years were not played on a level playing field. People are actually including Vanderbilt statistics in an attempt to denigrate Franklin?
Criticism is fair, but ignoring the bias in a statistic just to make a point is not.
Not quite so fast. They were lower ranked in some because they lost earlier ones in the year, otherwise they’d have been HIGHER ranked. Stop trying to sound smart.

Couldn't have been too many in that category considering the fact that PSU has only lost 9 total games since Michigan 2016 ;)

The last part shows your idiocy. You can't even understand what people are saying. People don't want to pay the current coordinators more money they want to pay a bunch of money for better coordinators.

JF is undoubtedly a great HC, but he is loyal to a fault with terrible OC's. How soon folks forget John Donovan. Rahne is an upgrade, but he's not a B10 caliber OC.
Do you think we lost the game because of scheme? Wake up. O$U has the best talent in the country...including a couple of players (best on O and best in D) who should not even have been playing today. Take them away? And they still would have had better players (slightly).

So which assistant coaches/coordinators need to be replaced with better, higher paid personnel?

This is your opportunity to “wow us” with your wisdom

Does Urban Meyer’s record
at Utah count?

I am disappointed because I thought this schedule would lead us to 11-1 or even 12-0. The loss to Minnesota was disappointing

But I'm satisfied with 10-2 including a win over Michigan. The program is in a better place than it was five years ago.
Yeah show me a post where you made that prediction pre-season. Otherwise hush. Most in the know had us at 3 or 4 losses. Ohio State, Michigan and Iowa all were uphill battles against more experienced teams with equivalent or better talent (with the exception of Iowa but at Kinnick with a first year quarterback and a young team we’re underdogs, same thing with MSU). Actually I’m tired of hearing Iowa has inferior talent. They’ve had three first round TEs and a slew of first round offensive lineman and DBs.

Actually, I could care less if you predicted it because you were wrong and lucky. You’re wrong even if you think you were right.

The only thing you can pick at was Rahne over Gattis. I’d take the Ivy League guy as well. Nobody’s perfect.

Everyone knows what it takes to move the program to the next level. For those who say it will only take 1 or 2 athletes are wrong. It’s more like 7 to 10 “athletes” to move the needle enough to threaten for a National Championship. The million dollar question, is PSU willing to go down that road to win it’s 3rd National Championship. I know Jim Harbaugh got it right when he said the SEC just have different recruiting standards, they cheat. Well, I don’t think they cheat they just have more latitude in who they can recruit.

That’s a different question. Does anyone really believe Franklin can regularly win the B10?

I do. Clemson took a very similar path to where they're at. Yes, Clemson has an easier path lately since the ACC is down, but they still handily beat everybody they should for the most part...

Bradley won at OSU he would be a good choice. That was during a shit storm as well.
For God sake put down the crack pipe - even ‘Bama let the Bear Rest In Peace. These people that want to grab any connection to Joe and think that will solve all the problems ARE the problem - just pathetic.

The question about Meyer's tenure at Utah appears to be completely irrelevant:
Utah played 1 ranked team in 2003, #19 Oregon at HOME.
Utah played 1 ranked team in 2004, #19 Pitt in a bowl game.
So including Utah contributes nothing to the "Meyer road record against ranked opponents" statistic.

Further, regardless of whether previous teams are included or not, comparing Urban Meyer's performance in the Mountain West conference with only 2 ranked opponents as out-of-conference games (both at #19) with Franklin in the SEC (with a team that was 2-10 prior to his arrival) certainly doesn't work...

I don't have a problem w/ CJF, but I care less than most here. I would like to see some more organization and some sort of a mission on offense. Right now our mission is apparently hoping the backup QB runs for 6 yards every play.

I'm sure you miss our old playbook that had 4 different pass plays and 10 different draw plays.

You really think MtNitt is the voice of reason among PSU fans...come on now. PSU with a good showing will finish 2nd or 3rd in scoring in the conference and in the top 20 in the country. Yes there are things that can be done better, but we need to stop acting like one game is the end all. I mean Levis barely played until IU, but Mt Nitt is going to talk like that was the norm all year....BS.
