The debacle in Piscataway deepens

I imagine, that lime most groups of people, there are some horrible ones, with most being reasonable.
If you have evidence to the contrary, I would love to hear it.
If you ask. At Rutgers vs. Penn State football games, the student section still does the Ped-O-Philes cheer. That's gotten a little old. On a more personal level, at the championships in Pittsburgh 4 of us sat next to two Rutgers faithful. When Suriano and Ashnault won, we high fived them and offered our congratulations. When Cenzo lost to Lewis, they were in our faces laughing and acting like idiots. But I wasn't surprised. My wife told me that's what we get for being nice to them.

When will the first session likely end? I gotta meet the in-laws for late lunch on Saturday so I am trying to figure out my window. Thinking 3-6:30pm is a safe time frame or later than 3?

Asked where? I have never once advertised tickets I told AFhawk86 I had a extra that's all.Your lying. One thing I have never done and never will do is make money off wrestling fans.Have sold many tickets for face value.Actually have a extra in V6 row 1 for ncaa if you want it we can sit with each other and I can tell you your a liar the whole weekend.

This sounds fun. You have a third ticket? I’ll buy the popcorn.

Their fans boo'ed the Naval Academy in 2007, they chanted "F NAVY" and "You got f***ed up" at an injured Midshipman. That says all I need to know about them.

Yep, we tried to show them that fans from different institutions could hang out enjoying athletic competition. But ultimately I was reminded of the scorpion and the frog...

That sounds about right. Figure up to 160 bouts 8 minutes each across 4 mats computes to 5.3 hrs.

But....But....Mekhi Lewis doesn't even wrestle for Rutgers.......

Should only be 12 bouts per weight class. 6 1st round, 4 quarterfinals, and 2 wrestle backs to reduce the field to 12, so 120 total bouts. Somewhere around 4.5 hours.

Imagine if we went like that every time a PA kid won a natty.....
It would be exhausting.
Quite frankly, I'm happy for the success of PA guys in that it helps PA high school wrestling remain in the epicenter of the sport at that level. However, I don't get overly excited. I'm too dyed in the wool PSU.
It's not like I was wishing Terrell Pryor would win a Heisman for tOSU!
But seriously. That shows you that that wrestling fans are rare birds. What other sport would you see huge groups of fans supporting athletes because of the state they're from? (Even if it is from the wrong corner of the state!)

How they treated PSU fans during 2014 was maybe the most classless thing I've ever seen. The shirts and flags were bad enough but Nobody was off limits from their harassment, not people minding their own business and not children or elders. Beating them there at night in their Superbowl was SO satisfying (especially because they were legitimately better than us that year)

It honestly bugs me that we've been asleep at the wheel the last 4 years against Rutgers and haven't truly put them in their place yet (like 78-0 type of beatdown) but that 2014 game has to sting for them.

Rooting priority:
-PSU kids or kids I personally know
-PA kids wrestling for PA Schools
-PA kids wrestling non PA kids (inc PA HAwks)
-Any kid wrestling vs Iowa or tOSU

Ooo! I like this!

I got
-Our boys in blue, aka "The Good Guys" or "The Fun Bunch"
-Any kid from D3 or D4
-Any kid wrestling for a PA school that is NOT sPitt
-PA kids wrestling for schools that aren't Iowa or the Bucknuts

However, seemingly every year, there's a kid that just jumps out at me and I like watching them wrestle. Meredith and Terao come to mind.

It's funny you added D3/D4 guys in there. I was thinking about how it could add in D1/D12 guys and included them in the broad "any kid I know section"

i blame the distribution of tix on rutgers. i blame the venue on the bt. have been to the last 10 bts and have never had a problem getting tix. could not get them this year due to rutgers distribution process with limited seating. this one is the closest to my home, & i'll sit it out. will not pay inflated prices on secondary markets to enrich rutgers season ticket holders:mad:.
LockHaven: As of this evening, I have 1 ticket (all sessions) available. My wife has to stay home to help care for a family member having surgery. If you don’t mind sitting among some Rutgers faithful, let me know how to contact you off line and we can coordinate a transfer.
I knew RAC seating would be very limited, so last summer I worked an old J&J buddy (Rutgers alum) to get tickets. If you are not interested ... let me know and I’ll offer it up to others on the sticky thread.

thanks, i appreciate that gesture but, since that time, i have made other plans. hopefully, someone else in my position can use it.

Despicable fans.
Every teams fan base has idiot fans. Student sections act disrespectful at many Universities. We have to remember students are young adults and make poor decisions as we did.I know we would've never done anything like that especially while walking to school uphill both ways.

Rutgers must have a lot of middle age students.

I regret reading through this thread. That's on me. But for someone who "could care less about people piling on Rutgers", you've certainly picked up the flag and carried it a long way.

p.s. I guess I have more faith in 20 year olds. I think a small percentage would boo and curse the Midshipmen.

Just not sure why all the hate for them. Not like they're on the same level wrestling wise so just not sure why everyone bashes them. You would think they're the team challenging for a NCAA title will all the hate.Theyre not a threat at all so people trashing them confuses me

You're missing the point entirely. It's about behavior, not how good you are. I'm a Steelers fan. I don't like Cleveland fans. They don't challenge the Steelers ever. But you go there for a game, you risk having beer poured on you, being cursed at non stop, or inadvertently involved in a dust up.
And do Penn State fans act like clowns occasionally? Sure, and that makes me angrier than when other fans do it.
It's more than just a few students. It takes more than that to have the chants picked up in a radio broadcast.
But I'm more than happy to stop the "Rutgers bashing". I just wanted to clarify what brought it on, since you seemed confused about that.

I happened to be in NYC and decided to hang around through Saturday and go to the Penn State - Rutgers football game a few years back. I'm gathering you haven't been to one of those games? Hate is a strong word, and I don't employ it often. But that's where my hate originates.

If you're a Penn State fan and just trying to keep them peace, I can respect that, but would suggest you're not going to change any minds. If you're a Rutgers fan, the nicest way I can say it is you're probably barking up the wrong tree.

On the other side of the coin of good fans, in the past my BJC tickets were across the aisle from the visiting team fans/parents. Nicest group, Ohio State. Been to matches at St. John's arena and Schottenstein arena sitting amounst Ohio State people, never a problem.
Even when RBY and Nick Lee did their thing the Ohio State fans were nice "hosts".

Seen this on Facebook..

If anyone is interested in tickets to the B1G tournament at Rutgers this weekend, all-session tickets are available at the U. of Maryland athletic ticket office. Call them at (301) 314-7070.

When Kerry was coaching, a few years (recently) I got some really good tickets through Maryland.

Everyone was saying no schools received tickets looks like that was all rumors and false.

Schools DID get tickets. Because of the much smaller numbers, the few that were given were taken by wrestler's families, and others tied to the university, as I understand. Again, it's my understanding that the small arena prevented Rutgers from having larger sections assigned as has been the case for all the other Big Ten Championships I've attended.
