the great city of Cleveland. As with the Falls, both Mrs. G and I have been here before, but neither of us has been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I shall go there and ask where the Bobby Darin Johnny Mastro exhibit can be seen. When they say it is not here, I shall ask why? When they say he has not been voted in I shall ask why not? Should anyone suggest it is because he is not deserving I shall deliver a litany so compelling that they will surely vote him in at the next election.

I’m a little disappointed with these “stopping point” posts without any information as to how you “got there” and what you did “along the way”.:)

He should review King Ad Buck's epic posts of his trip, and then fill in some more details of his own journey.

And, the Christmas Story house, museum, and gift shop are in Cleveland. They sell leg lamps and pink bunny costumes.

Somebody quick set up a GoFundMe for fairgambit's bail! @Obliviax, we need your wife on call for the bail hearing.

Fair is a measured and mannerly man, but even a Clevelander would know not to F with a Bobby Darrin fan.

I may stage a sit in, or worse, eat a bunch of prunes and stage a sh*t in. ABBA is in the Hall and Bobby Darin Johnny Maestro is not? WTF?

I am melting down before your very eyes. I have been using Bobby Darin throughout this thread when I meant Johnny Maestro of the Crests and Brooklyn Bridge. Bobby is in the Hall and I knew that. Johnny is not and I knew that. I just mixed them up. I blame lack of sleep. I stayed up till 2AM watching the colored lights of Niagara Falls. It messed up my head (more than usual). So. That said, ABBA is in the Hall and Johnny Maestro is not? WTF?

NOTE: Johnny Maestro was lead singer of the Crests and The Brooklyn Bridge. The Crests (late 50's and early 60's) were one of the first interracial groups, had a number of top 20 hits, and sold a million records with Sixteen Candles. Johnny added to his resume with the Brooklyn Bridge in the late 60's, earning gold again with The Worst That Could Happen. Johnny continued to perform through the decades until his untimely death from cancer at age 70 in 2010. Paul Simon and Billy Joel both strongly support Johnny's induction. It is long over due.

This post makes this thread one of the funniest of ALL TIME, fair. I know how you are feeling. One of the best things about a vacation is that you can loosen some of the lines that hold the boat to the dock, so to speak, and let her float around a little.

Here is the image I formed in my mind:
Fair is lashing his vintage El Dorado westward on I-90, tapping his fingers on the wheel, and humming along to some nameless 50s teen hearthrob tune.

" I can't believe they haven't let Bobby Darin into the HOF. This is bullshit. I want some ANSWERS, dammit! The guy was a favorite of millions of people for Decades!"

[Mrs. Fair, fiddling with phone as her husband rants]: "Honey, it says here that Bobby D entered the Hall in 1990."

"What? No, not Bobby Darin! Maestro, Johnny Maestro!"

"Who?"

No worries Fair. No need to give it a second thought until and unless the hotel's security cams catch you raging poolside tomorrow at some 6 yo old kid to get off your lawn. Mrs. Fair has the contact info for Tom McA. We got your back.

Thanks dem. Your post gave me comfort and my wife a good laugh. She is still laughing. Now, off to breakfast. I love breakfast on the road. You can eat all the bacon you want and don't have to cook it. I just hope they have my prune juice.;)

Dude, I was waiting for your correction. Even I knew Bobby Darin is in the R&RHoF.
Thanks for your restraint Jim. I think it's best to have a personal "Oh shit" moment and then correct myself rather than have 10 other people tell me how stupid I am.

RnR HOF... prepare to be underwhelmed!

Hit up Great Lakes brewing... or Brewnuts... or Chicken + Whiskey instead.

Don't miss breakfast at Lucky's café... it's the best thing about Cleveland.

Thanks for the tips.

Fair, while you're in Cleveland, you might wish to visit the grave of Danny J. Greene. Danny is a Hall of Famer awarded by the infamous Celtic Club of Cleveland.

The fairgambit spring frolic threads are reminiscent of a few years back with another long time BWI poster having a tough time getting out of the back yard with the trailer.

Pleasant travels, fair ... great to see some posts from a wily grizzled veteran again.

Niagara Falls and then Cleveland....I guess a trip to Toledo, Detroit and Flint are next on the Gambit's "Rust Belt Tour 2018"?
Probably zoomed right past the Woodpecker homestead near Erie (Lawrence Park's Brick Jungle) without proper homage to the shrine.

Thanks MrDibbs, especially for the "wily" part.:)

2:50 PM.
Back in hotel room from the RRHOF. Enjoyed the 3+ hours we spent there. Some comments later. Wife is resting and I am answering some client calls. Wife has plans for the evening. I do too but they are not the same. Who will prevail? Put your money on the honey.;)
