Steve Spurrier is returning to football. The Alliance of American Football, a new professional spring league set to debut next February, revealed the AAF's first host city will be Orlando with college football Hall of Famer Spurrier serving as coach.

The Alliance's co-founder Charlie Ebersol, former NFL star Hines Ward, who is serving as an executive of player relations, and Spurrier himself joined "CBS This Morning: Saturday" to discuss the new league, which will kick off just one week after next year's Super Bowl.

Whenever one of these new leagues start they always put s team in Orlando.

Good luck to them. But I don't think the appetite is there by the fambase.

Agreed. Don't think that people who are tired of the NFL are going to migrate to a watered down version. But who am I to tell Vince how to waste his money.

Poster from the deleted Tiger thread going to complain about Spurrier continuing to coach?

Vince doesn't start wasting his money for another year with the reboot of the XFL. I believe this is Charlie Ebersol's competing league.

They always place franchises in NY metro and LA too. Seeing that Florida is one of the most populous states bolstered by northern transplants, it's as good a location as any in the country.

Before opening your mouth you might want to get your ownership and league right ... but whatever

Has anyone had a football experience as broad (and largely successful) as Steve Spurrier

Heisman Trophy winning QB at Florida
First round draft choice and played (mostly backup QB) 10 seasons in the NFL; also punted
Assistant coach at Florida, GaTech, and Duke
Head coach Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL 3 seasons with a 35 - 21 records
Head coach at Duke for 3 seasons where he had a winning record and conference co-championship
Head coach at Florida for 12 seasons with 6 SEC championships and 1 National Championship
Head coach Washington Redskins for 2 years
Head coach at South Carolina for 11 years where he achieved the most success ever for that program
and now, Head coach in his 3rd pro league

Not to mention having some memorable quips and quotes

Good luck to the Ole Ball Coach

I remember once Spurrier saying that he always put in a vote in the pre-season Coach's poll for Duke - because they gave him his first head coach opportunity and he always felt this was the best way to return the favor.
