While Iowa's Sports Information people are proclaiming... The second-ranked University of Iowa wrestling team clinched at least a share of the Big Ten regular season championship with a 45-0 win over No. 20 Indiana on Friday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. And there's a picture of Iowa's team in their championship tee shirts and championship hats.

Not a peep out of Penn State about being co-champs or winning any championship at all. NO Championship tee shirts or championship hats made. Just talk of March. No photo op at Penn State with Championship anything.

"We don't have the firepower that Penn State has." This year it was... "We can't win with just four guys producing." The message is always the same. Tom's very candid in his interviews. He doesn't hold back. It's one of the refreshing qualities of him. He paints a very clear picture of where his team stands in relationship to his competition. I'm sorry to mention that Tom let's it all hang out. I'm glad you have personal contact with him... but Tom Brand's will tell the WORLD what's on his mind. That I can respect.

I am sorry you are unable to use Google correctly, but the Des Moines Register, who's Hawkeye wrestling writer Andy Hamilton is pretty well respected in the industry, mentioned it (Link), as did the Big Ten conference (link). I can link other Newspapers that covered it if you would like.

Just decided to check in on this thread after avoiding it for the weekend - was kinda busy and didn't feel the need to check in on what was sure to become a dumpster fire, lol.

Amalone - give it a rest on the bet thing with AzChief. AzChief was just being a good sport on the HR offering me up that bet. It was in response to a kind of BS bet that a HR poster was trying to "bully" me into after completely whiffing on a post in which I opined that Sam Brooks looked to me to be a definite top 4 guy before the season, but seems to be kind of the same guy who could possibly not even AA if he got a bad draw (it was one of 10 comments in the post - but this guy took offense to this).

Long story, short - difficult for me, I know - Me & Chief have the Sorenson bet, I took up a Brooks not AAing (which I don't think I'll win) bet with another poster because of Chief being a good sport and all the money is going to Wrestling for Life.

No need for Chief to lay down another bet on this and you are pretty much doing the same thing that the J/A on HR was trying to do to me in trying to harangue him into that bet.

Now if you wanted to be a good sport, you WOULD take him up on the Gilman thing with the proceeds going to Wrestling for Life.

The picture of Josey Wales, ( a hardened and true Iowa fan) was legendary for following through on a bet with me. He took a picture of himself wearing the PENN STATE tee shirt I sent to him with Terry Brands. I give immense props to Josey and Terry Brand for being such a great sport about it. If "Josey Wales" wasn't a legend before.. he became one then. Maybe he's traumatized from the experience. I miss him posting and I wonder where he's been. Ummm... were not going back to the Gable years to prove what's happened in the past 5 years. Instead of a peaking at Nationals... Iowa hasn't been remotely close to winning a title. Remember Bobby Telford, Mike Evans performance in March? Ring any bells for you?

The fourth place teams and third place teams with a full roster the past five years ring any bells? As Tom Brands mentioned himself in his interview after the Minnesota match. Iowa was Big ten Champs and 2nd at nationals in wrestling 11 months ago. PSU was 5th or 6th or 7th? I guess that's the most recent history to go on... Amaloon, What a nut!
